“No way. I can change your mind.”

“I have no doubt you could, but you’re not going to. One more day won’t kill you.”

“It just might, and think about how bad you’ll feel if it does.”

Sam rolled her eyes. “Shameless manipulation will get you nowhere tonight.”

His low growl made her laugh.

“I’ve spoiled you rotten in our first year of marriage,” she said, “and now you’re downright unmanageable.”

He took her hand and pressed it against his cock. “I’m very manageable. Give me what I want, and you’ll see just how manageable I can be.”

She leaned in close to him, so close that her lips nearly touched his. “Not. Happening.”

“This is cruel and unusual punishment.”

“No, this is me being a good wife and making sure you’re totally healed before I ravage you.”

He scowled. “You can’t say no in one breath and then talk about ravaging me in the next. Not fair.”

“It’ll give you something to look forward to tomorrow. And PS, pouting is not an attractive quality for a vice president.”

“I’m not the vice president right now. I’m a horny husband with an uncooperative wife.”

“Whatever! I’m the most cooperative wife in the history of the world.”

Review:

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First off, I must say that I’ve been a fan of this author since reading her book, “Treading Water” several years ago. She weaves stories that delve into deep issues so that her stories aren’t just surface feel good stories. And her “Fatal” series books add in the element of mystery on top of it all. I’ve been a huge fan of Nora Roberts for a LOT of years now and Marie Force’s works are right up there with Nora’s, in my humble opinion.

If you haven’t read any of the series you really need to read all the books in order as they all build on the prior timeline with the major and minor recurring characters. This book picks up at the end of Sam and Nick’s first year of marriage. They are looking forward to celebrating their first anniversary, but in the midst of all the anticipation a lot happens. She’s approached to help solve a missing person case that turns all kinds of sideways. There are so many twists and turns that truly take an imaginative mind to come up with. I love to try to “beat” the author’s resolution in my head and figure it all out when I read romantic suspense. But Marie truly surprised me with this ending. I really did NOT see the end coming! The action is fast paced and the evolving stories of more minor characters will rip your heart out and then put it back together again. I give this book a solid 5 stars. She keeps you wanting to come back to see what’s next for Sam, her family and all her co-workers. Can’t wait for the next book already!
