“If you don’t already have a little Rebecca Yarros in your life, you really should!!” (NICUnurse, Wickedcoolflight Team)

Note from NICUnurse:  If you haven’t already pre-ordered this book, do it…. NOW!  I was lucky enough to get an ARC and trust me when I say, I think this is her best book yet!  And I’ve loved them all!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

She’s Penna Carstairs.
The Renegade they call Rebel.
FMX-treme Magazine’s sexiest female athlete of the year.
There’s no rule in extreme sports she hasn’t broken,
No gender barrier she hasn’t demolished.

She’s the woman I met in a bar in Vegas.
The woman I illegally BASE jumped for.
The woman I spent one insane, incredible night with.
But now I’m screwed.
Or rather…not screwed.

Because the woman I can’t get out of my head is the one woman I can never touch again.
I’m Dr. Cruz Delgado—the youngest professor on this campus,
And Penelope Carstairs just walked into my class.

My favorite Rebecca Yarros book has been “Full Measures” since I found it about in March of 2014.  It was the first book of hers I read, and it made me fall in love with her writing. Since then, I’ve read all her books.  There’s not one I wouldn’t re-read.  But “Rebel” might just knock “Full Measures” off the first place podium!

This is the third book in her “Renegades” series.  Each can be read as a standalone book, but you really do have a more full reading experience if you read them all in order.  I actually had this in my Kindle for almost a week before I read it.  I had to wait until I had several uninterrupted hours before I could start this book because I knew once I started, I wouldn’t want to stop until the end.  And oh boy… was I right!!  I DEVOURED this book in about 5 hours!

“Rebel” is part extreme sports, part romance, and part a coming into your own story.  Penna (aka “Rebel”) is struggling to find herself again after a fairly life altering injury.  She’s also struggling to come to terms with the cause of the accident that so severely injured her.  One crazy night in Las Vegas and Cruz enters her life.  He’s older and sees all of her.  Not just Rebel.  Not just Penna.  He sees Penelope.  This is their story.  And there’s SO much to their story.

“Rebel” seriously gives you ALL the feels!  Rebecca delivers the ups and downs of a “forbidden” romance, the ins and outs of people desperately trying to figure out who they are and what their futures should look like, and just a tad of suspense thrown in just to keep you turning the pages, instead of putting the book down!  Honestly, this story pretty much blew me away.  Besides the romance, there’s the side story of Cruz himself that Ms. Yarros slowly builds and reveals.  And that, my friends, is the part that blew me away.  I can only imagine how much time she spent researching for this part of the plot.  And ladies… Cruz is the most swoon-worthy character of all of her male characters yet!  (Sorry Josh… there’s a new man in town!)  He’s hot (that’s a given), determined, loyal, and loves his sister and grandmother fiercely.  He’s determined to make the best possible future for them, even if it’s at his own expense.  And then he does the same for Penna.  Check out this Cruz quote:

“You are a headstrong, independent, stubborn woman surrounded by a sea of boys, when what you crave—what you need—is a man. One who isn’t going to hold you back but isn’t afraid of you, either. One who knows the delicate balance between watching you fly and protecting you, so you don’t fall. Hell, I’m not sure any of those boys would even know what to do with you if you ever let them get their hands on you.” (GAH!  Seriously people … how awesome?!)

But Cruz isn’t the only one in this relationship willing to give 110%.  Rebel gives as much as Cruz.  She’s literally willing to risk it all (more than once) for her man.  Cruz sums her up so nicely:

“Knowing that a woman that fierce was willing to risk it all to ask in the first place nearly took me to my knees. Everything about Penelope was my undoing. It was like she’d been created specifically to torment, tease, and utterly enthrall me.”

And the references to “An Officer and a Gentleman” are epic!

If you like contemporary romance, I honestly believe you will LOVE this book!

“Rebel” is a fabulous end to The Renegades series that wraps it up in an amazing way.  This is definitely a 5 propeller read!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Rebecca Yarros is a hopeless romantic and a lover of all things coffee, chocolate, and Paleo. She is the author of the Flight & Glory, Renegades, and Legacy series. She loves military heroes and has been blissfully married to hers for fifteen years.

When she’s not writing, she’s tying hockey skates for her four sons, sneaking in some guitar time, or watching brat-pack movies with her two daughters. She lives in Colorado with the hottest Apache pilot ever, their rambunctious gaggle of kids, an English bulldog who is more stubborn than sweet, and a tortoise who might be faster than the bulldog. They recently adopted their youngest daughter from the foster system, and Rebecca is passionate about helping others do the same.
