The Clover Chapel
From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, second chance romance.
She took a dare and fell in love. Truth would have been the smarter choice.
After years of living under her father’s thumb, Emmeline is ready to break free. She’s abandoned her life as a New York socialite to follow her dream of becoming a kindergarten teacher in a small, wholesome town. Seeing the man that nearly broke her was absolutely not what she had hoped to find in Prescott, Montana.
Nick hasn’t seen his Emmy in nine years, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten a thing about the woman he loves. After just one blissful night as man and wife, he gave her up, sacrificing his own happiness to keep her safe—far away from him. But the moment she walks back into his lonely life is the moment he decides never to let her go again. He won’t waste his second chance. All he has to do is win back Emmeline’s heart, keep her safe from the shadows in his past and prove to her that taking a wager on him is a sure bet.
NICUnurse’s Review of The Clover Chapel by Devney Perry
The Clover Chapel is the second book in Devney Perry’s Jamison Valley series. All of the books can be read as stand-alone titles, but I loved reading them in order. (I’m a series junkie, though.) This was the book I’d been wanting to go back and read ever since I started reading the Tin Gypsy series. Nick, Emmy, and their story are referenced in Gypsy King, and it first caught my attention there. I was intrigued and wanted to know the whole story because it sounded so interesting. (Spoiler alert: I was right, by the way!)
Nick and Emmy’s story is a second-chance, love-at-first-sight romantic suspense. There are many characters and some backstory from the Tin Gypsy series, but you don’t have to have read Gypsy King to understand the plot of this book and vice versa. But honestly, I just love them all, so if you’ve got the time and money to invest, I say you can’t go wrong by doing so! Had I not known this was Perry’s second novel, I would have sworn she’d been writing romantic suspense books for years. Their romance is heartbreaking, frustrating, and heartwarming, to sum it all up. Despite how much he loved her from the minute they met, his actions have always had him putting Emmy first. At least in his mind. His intentions were noble, if not a bit misguided. And the plot twist actually stumped me (a good thing). This one kept me up way too late because I honestly couldn’t put it down. Just when it would seem Nick and Emmy hit a spot of smooth sailing, the tide would turn, and I’d keep reading. It’s a lot more of a fast-paced plot than the first book, too. While I liked Jess and Gigi’s story, I freaking loved Nick and Emmy’s!
NICUnurse’s Rating: I give The Clover Chapel by Devney Perry 5 out of 5 propellers!
