NICUnurse’s Review of Lost & Found by Freya Barker
Lost & Found is book four in Freya Barker’s PASS security series. It can absolutely be read as a stand-alone title as I’ve only read one of the previous books and had no issues with keeping up with characters or the plot. I’ve read a few books by this author now, and she’s cemented a spot on my must-read list for romantic suspense books. I’m a total romantic suspense junkie, and the last book I read by this author fed my addiction well, so I was looking forward to this book.
The action wasn’t all fast-paced, but I didn’t feel like that was a bad thing. It kind of ebbed and flowed like a good suspense television show. And while I had a vague idea of who the ultimate villain was, the suspense was complex enough that I didn’t quite figure it all out before the big reveal. (All good things for this long-time romantic suspense junkie! Nothing worse than a predictable outcome in these types of books.) There were many threads to untangle, and the author did a fantastic job of weaving them in a way that had me knowing I was still missing pieces of the puzzle until the very end, which kept me anxiously turning the pages and not putting this book down until I was finished because I HAD to know how it all turned out.
The characters were flawed, but aren’t we all? That just added more depth to the story. Our hero was no smooth talker, that’s for sure. He had to overcome a lot to get his second chance with Bree. And our heroine was pretty stubborn, even if she was a badass! However, with how much Yanis hurt her in the past, it was more than understandable. Despite their flaws, the odds stacked against them, and their history hanging like a black cloud over them, they eventually got their second chance happily ever after.
Now, I’m thinking I’ll be going back and catching up on the previous two books in the series I haven’t read yet and most likely rereading them all in order. If you like romantic suspense books that keep you guessing, you’re going to want to grab a copy of this one today!
