Ready to Run is the first collaboration between these two authors. I’ve been a fan of Jennifer Rebecca’s for quite some time, but I had never read Alyssa Kale’s debut novel. It is, however, now on my TBR list after reading this book! 

After she flees from a cheating almost-husband, Bayleigh convinces her BFF, Archer, to accompany her on her almost honeymoon. Finally realizing he has more than friendly feelings for this feisty bestie, he agrees. And the adventure begins.

Bayleigh and Archer’s story is a friends-to-lovers rom-com that you do not want to miss. I tend to read in bed right before bedtime, but I’m so glad I opted to read this one earlier in the day. There were so many genuine laughing-out-loud moments that I know my husband would have been extremely upset with me for being unable to control my loud laughter late into the night otherwise. I typically lean toward reading romantic suspense, but sometimes you need an escape from the heavy of those books, and this book was the perfect break. Not to say there wasn’t any angst or conflict. All good romance stories need a bit of both, but Ready to Run is the perfect balance between the real and the hilarious. However, if you’re not a fan of sarcasm and snark, you may not find it as funny as I did. But I live on both, so this book was more than right up my alley. I’m very much looking forward to Archer’s sister, Evan’s, story!

With the world getting more and more back to normal, your time for reading may be diminishing. So when you need a break, and you need laughter more than a good mystery or suspense or angst, I highly recommend picking up this book and escaping into a fabulous story.
