I can only imagine his disappointment.

Now he wants to take me out on a date and he’s scouring Manhattan to find me. He’s an overachieving billionaire bent on a mission. How much longer can I keep up this charade?

Fly Girl’s Review

I’ve been hearing about this book since 2018 and have wanted to read it since I read the blurb back then. I’ve finally been able to get it off my TBR pile and listened to it via audible. As all the other books in this series have been, it was a refreshing plot twist idea that had me hook line and sinker. I will just open with, who tells their coworker in a skirt, heels, blazer and a button up shirt that they are dressed to sexy to go see the boss? I mean really, that sounds professional. However, in Annika Martin’s world it’s too sexy and I wonder what she has against professional dressing now.

Just the beginning of Lizzie’s nightmarish work environment. She’s licking her wounds from having her dreams snatched from her by a con artist and is just trying to survive a mob payoff installment. When her new job she loves becomes a nightmare she takes things into her own hands and writes her own fate. Thankfully her BFF is there to help push her into this response, because it turns out good in many more ways than a crazy Wake-Up-Call Girl job. Her boss is a narcissist who’s in love with the company CEO and is willing to walk all over everyone to make herself look good. Even if that means firing said employees.

Theo on the other hand is pissed he has to cow tow to provincial business practices in order to get his product into the hands of those who need it. He is also so self absorbed he doesn’t realize there are actual people around him that have feelings and depend on him. His brutal tongued new Wake-Up-Call girl brings these things to his attention as they fight over microwave popcorn in the workplace at 4:30 in the am. Then he begins to open up his eyes to not only his employees, but who this Wake-Up-Call girl is. This leads to trouble like he never imagined, but he believes he has all the answers and works hard to uncover the truth and make things write.

By the end we have our HEA and microwave popcorn is finally allowed in the workplace. As in, normal, Annika Martin style you get a sweet romance with lots of laughs and emotion that makes your toes curl as you try to keep from laughing at 3 am. I simply loved this book and am giving it a 5 of 5.  I anxiously await her next one in the series…Just Not That Into Billionaires coming out in August 2021.
