What happens when you make a pact with your boys to stay single and never fall in love?

Well, you get the Playboy Pact.

I was the playmaker. The one with the best moves, the best lines. I was the best at everything…

And I mean, everything.

There was no woman immune to my charm. To my looks. To my bed-hopping ways.

It was supposed to be easy. A quick, fun, mind-blowing night where she screamed out my name in ecstasy.

No feelings.

No past.

No strings attached.

I broke the rules.

I broke the pact.

I fell for her smile.

Her laugh.

Our instant connection.

Except, I never expected to fall in love.

Especially with a single mom…

Of twins.

NICUnurse’s Review of The Fling by M. Robinson

M. Robinson is a kind of new-to-me author in the sense that I had never read any of her books that she’s written alone. I’ve read the first book she co-authored with Rachel Van Dyken and liked it enough that I wanted to give one of her solo books a try. And the fact that The Fling is a rom-com sealed the deal. There’s a lot of crazy emotional stuff going on in my life, so I’m on a rom-com kick right now. Perfect timing to dive into this story!

For about the first quarter of the book, I wasn’t so sure I would like it. I’m the kind of reader who has to connect with the main characters, or it’s tough for me to get lost in the story. While Ashton seemed like a likable enough guy to the other characters, I had a hard time liking him. However, it takes a lot more than that to make me walk away from a book before finishing it, so I pushed through. About halfway through the story, it felt like there was a considerable shift in Ashton’s character, and eventually, he won me over. And before I knew it, I was firmly on Team Ashton. Sage, on the other hand, was easy to like. It was easy to feel sympathetic toward her situation as a single mom. She’s responsible where Ashton seems flighty in the beginning. She’s been doing the hard thing by raising her twins, and although she’s a single mom, her support system is fantastic. The chemistry between these two nearly incinerates your reading device (or book if you don’t read on an e-reader), but their story is so much more than the sexy times. There are a plethora of laugh-out-loud moments, and they become more numerous as the story unfolds, so beware of reading late into the night when someone is sleeping beside you! While this is absolutely a rom-com, there’s definitely a section of genuinely emotional scenes that broke my heart for Ashton and totally redeemed him for me.

All in all, this book was entertaining with engaging characters, plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, and just enough emotion to make you swoon over a guy you weren’t sure you were ever going to like. If you’re looking for a good rom-com to get lost in as you head to the pool or beach, this book is a good choice. Or if you’re looking for the kind of rom-com that will make you laugh so much you nearly pee your pants, this is definitely a good choice!

NICUnurse’s Rating: I give The Fling by M. Robinson 4 out of 5 propellers!
