From New York Times Bestselling Author Kristen Proby comes the thrilling conclusion to her With Me in Seattle Mafia series…
Rafe “Rocco” Martinelli was never one for the family business. Alas, being born into a crime syndicate means doing the family’s bidding and making sure you’re connected–and, yes, breaking a few kneecaps. Rafe would love nothing more than to hang up his enforcer apron and live a quiet life, but as more and more higher-ups in rival clans turn up dead, Rafe realizes he doesn’t have a choice. Especially not when the captivating and gorgeous bratva princess needs his help. Dr. Annika Tarenkov learned early on that her belongs to her family. She’s a pawn in the long game, a bargaining chip for power and prestige. She gave up the only person in her life she thought she could be happy with, all for the greater good of the family. Now, a newly made widow and desperately seeking answers, she’s forced to confront her past as it converges with her present. But all it does is make her wonder about her future and how she can make Rafe hers again. While being with him is like wrangling a toddler at times, he still makes her heart race and her breath catch. And she wouldn’t feel safer with anyone else. With the chips seemingly stacked against them, they must work to uncover the perpetrators of the nefarious plot that’s been brewing for some time–before it’s too late.

NICUnurse’s Review of Off the Record by Kristen Proby
I’m a long-time Kristen Proby fan. Her With Me in Seattle series hooked me from the very first book way back in late 2012, and I’ve devoured each one since. So when we got a small taste of what she could do with a mafia spinoff in Archer’s story (You Belong With Me), I was pretty intrigued. Being a long-time mafia romance fan, as well, seeing her dip her toes into that genre made me fairly giddy. Underboss (book one in this new mafia series) was a huge hit with me, as was Headhunter (book two), so it was a no-brainer that I’d dive into Off the Record as soon as I could get my hands on it. It can be read as a standalone title, but both previous books were fabulous, so I highly recommend starting at the beginning for the best possible reading experience. I’m a series junkie, though, so you can take that advice with a grain of salt, per se.
Annika and Rafe’s story is a second-chance, frenemies-to-lovers romance. I’m a total sucker for second-chance romance, so this one really hooked me. However, I still can’t put my finger on why, but Headhunter is still my most fave of all three of these books. The suspense seemed to be just a bit more suspenseful in that one, I think. Or maybe it’s just because I’m partial to military men (hubs is retired Air Force).
All in all, though, this was still a very unputdownable book. I thought the author did a great job unraveling all the threads and putting all of the pieces from all of the books (including You Belong With Me) to wrap up the series well. I’m sad to see the series end, but I am very hopeful we’ll see more mafia from Kristen Proby in the not-so-distant future. She’s still at the top of my automatic 1-click author list, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
