It’s time to meet my destiny.

Kymaris has everything she needs to bring down the veil between Earth and the Underworld. If she’s successful in completing the ritual, Earth will be darkened by evil. Demons will swarm our lands and the human race will be decimated.

It’s up to me to stop her.

My fate is to thwart the prophecy, but I’m not sure what to do. While I may have some gifts, I am still merely a human facing the queen of the Dark Fae who holds unimaginable power.

But I have something she doesn’t. Something she could never comprehend.

I have love.

Deep, abiding love which gives me the strength and courage to face down evil. Family, friends, and unexpected allies, who will stand shoulder to shoulder with me against this enemy. Should I fail, they are prepared to go down with me, but only after we have given our all.

My sacrifice may destroy everything I am. Fate may require my demise. But if that happens, I will leave this realm without regret, knowing that I have loved and been loved in return.

Fly Girl’s Review:

What a series finale! Sometimes I’m prepared for a formula in which the final two books in a saga are mostly action, so when we get something different I’m impressed. Sawyer gives us a lot of character development and action in both of the last two books in the series. I really love that because I always worry the action will over power the final discoveries the characters make about themselves. In this case it all worked out splendidly.

We know we are on a timeline to the final battle, but in this book we see them put the final pieces of their teams and plans together. They also bond as a true team before the final battle. Fin and Carrick realize they will always have forever so deep is their love and that gives them the power to put everything they have into winning against Kymaris. There are several sacrifices along the way, not just Finley’s as foretold in the prophecy. Other members of the team lose in the end also. I guess that’s what makes victory sweeter is knowing that although you lost many, there is still enough to rebuild and remember those you’ve lost.

The final battle isn’t just about force of wills, and magic, but also strength of wit and courage against all odds. It helps that Kymaris has a few defectors of a sorts. It’s nice to see even evil has standards. She ties up all the loose ends in great fashion from the team members we lose to the ruling of realms and even what happens to a god who’s been deemed unworthy by other gods. The world building as well as all the characters really made me want to keep reading the story. We all knew there was going to be a final battle and surprises would make us root for one side over the other, but really seeing the diverse characters with long histories and young souls all working together to make something happen was a testament to the human spirit and what it can survive.

This has been an enjoyable series and one I’ve loved staying up with. I never got bored or felt like i didn’t need to read any further. It was a good balance of not too overwhelmed with information, and not boring or slow. There were just enough mysteries each book to want to continue the saga. I hope she brings us more stories like this. I’d really love to see Carrick’s brothers get their own happy endings in a future spin off or something. After the final book, I have no option but to give it a 5. It kept me entertained for 5 books. That’s pretty impressive.
