For Olivia Adams, the world has always been too big or too small.
Forced to live her life caught between what she wanted for herself and the unfair choices and crazy obsession of those around her for as long as she could remember, Ollie has always felt confined and trapped. It was hard for her to imagine a future beyond the crushing control of those who wanted to make sure she paid the price for her role in a tragic accident that ruined several young lives. However, having no hope and living in a constant state of fear never stopped Ollie from dreaming of different ways to break free and how to reunite with the one person who always made her feel safe. Huck is the only one who ever made her feel like there was a place in his world, right by his side, that would fit her just right.

The world has always forced Huck Snyder to be a guy who runs either too hot or too cold. Unwanted and barely tolerated, his temper burned hot and bright, often leading him into trouble. After the accident, he was tossed out, disowned, and forced to fend for himself. Struggling to survive, Huck quickly realized the only way he would make it was to freeze out every single memory and moment from his past. Especially those surrounding Ollie. He allowed his heart to harden into a block of ice and refused to let anyone close enough to melt it. Years have passed, and Huck has adjusted to the constant cold that permeates through his new life. He was in no way prepared for the only girl who could ever control his inner fire to show back up. Ollie is on the run and doesn’t seem to mind the chilly reception she receives when she shows up unannounced on Huck’s doorstep.
Fire and ice no longer define Huck because when he’s with Ollie, it’s easy to remember that the temperature between the two of them has always been just right.

NICUnurse’s Review of Goldilocks by Jay Crownover

It’s no secret that Jay Crownover is one of my favorite authors. She had me at Rule years ago, and I’ve never looked back. (If you haven’t read her Marked Men series, drop what you’re doing and read them all…like right now!) Needless to say, she’s also one of my automatic 1-click authors. And I’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for Ollie and Huck’s story for quite some time. She initially debuted this book as serial chapters in her newsletter, and I read the first few chapters. As the story unfolded, I knew I wanted to read it as a book more than wait for each chapter once a month, so I stopped reading it for a while. I’m very glad I did because this story was more than worth the wait. It’s a sort of friends to enemies to lovers second chance romance with some suspense thrown in for good measure. My heart broke for both Ollie and Huck repeatedly, and in the end, my heart was still not quite 100%, but it had hope for a true HEA for their future. (NOTE: this book ends with a HEA and no cliffhanger, but it’s not quite the HEA you might want to see in an epilogue. It wraps the story up nicely but with possibilities.)

The thing I like most about Jay is that she writes what she wants to write and when she wants to write it. But when she does write, her words never fail to suck me into the story, and nine times out of 10, I can’t put it down until it’s all said and done. Goldilocks was no different. If you’re looking for a book with some suspense, lots of emotion, a hefty serving of angst, and a nice dollop of steamy scenes, you’re not going to want to pass this book up!
