NICUnurse’s Review of Besotted by Dr. Rebecca Sharp
Besotted is the third book in this authorβs Carmel Cove series. Each book is written as a stand-alone title. Iβm a series junkie so I usually recommend reading each book in order because you get the whole picture of whoβs who and whatβs what. But it really isnβt necessary to read the first two books prior to reading Besotted.Β
NICUnurseβs Rating: I will tell you that at this point, Iβm fully invested in this entire series. Iβve been with these characters since book one, and I plan to stick with them to see how it all plays out. With that in mind, here are my thoughts on this new release from Dr. Rebecca Sharp.
Honestly, as bad as I felt for our hero, Miles, I mostly just wanted to smack him and tell him to get over himself. He was too good for the one that ruined his outlook on love, and giving in to that hate, self-loathing, and giving up on love just let that awful woman win. Thankfully, he eventually figured that outβ¦with Eveβs help, of course. And he certainly didnβt deserve sweet, innocent, full-of-hope Eve at first. But as with all beloved and strong heroines, Eve refused to live her life any differently because of one man, no matter how much she loved him. For that alone, I wanted to high-five her. She refused to let a man dictate how she felt, how she lived, or how she loved. None of us ever should do those things. Regardless of how many times he rejected her, no matter how hurt she was, she truly made the difficult choice to live her life on her own terms. And she was more than willing to sacrifice herself for a friend. Truly the embodiment of the Bible verse John 15:13, βGreater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friendsβ¦β (ESV). Who wouldnβt want someone like that in their corner?!
As frustrated as I was with Miles for at least half of the story, eventually my own heart thawed toward our flawed hero. Thankfully he figured out what a treasure he had in Eve and manned up. And the book was definitely entertaining. Iβm very invested in this series, so Iβm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. And to the spin-off as, well. Hold on to your hats (and your hearts), people. This ride is going to get even crazier!

She enjoys working in her practice with her father as well as letting her creativity run free as an author. Growing up she’s always loved a good love story and finally decided to give writing one of her own a go.
After graduating with her doctoral degree, she now enjoys spending that thing called free time traveling with her husband, cooking, and knitting.
