When a chance meeting under the mistletoe ignites a hidden attraction, Tess is forced to choose between fighting her desire or surrendering to love.

Christmas in the snow sounded like a brilliant idea when Kaitlyn pitched the idea of spending their annual sister holiday at a working ranch. However, mid-flight, Tess discovers Kaitlyn’s underlying motive is to spend the next seven days ogling the male owners of Dove Ranch.

Stuck in the snow with no electricity and a cowboy-crazy sister, Tess finds solace with the eldest brother, Weston, who deplores the suggestive misdirection of the ranch’s new advertising scheme. Agreeing to buffer Weston from the advances of the ranch’s eager guests, Tess finds herself falling for the man she offered to protect.

However, when Weston makes the ultimate sacrifice, Tess must decide if she’s willing to risk her heart on a cowboy.

Fly Girl’s Review

This is my first Christmas novel of the season. I hate they come out so early so I usually wait until at least Halloween to read one. This one was a surprising change for me. Normally my Christmas ones are historical but this is a contemporary romance about a group of brothers just trying to save their ranch. They do these hokie holiday themed ranch vacations at each of the holidays. The big problem is their marketing campaigns all seem to include the brothers half naked on the brochures and attract only single ladies to the ranch.

Tess gets roped into the Christmas holiday trip by her sister when she is too busy working to pay attention to the vacation details she’s paying for. When she arrives at the austere location for pick up, she is appalled that her sister would pick such a place for their traditional holiday vacation. After much cajoling from her sister she decides to stay and that’s when she meet Weston who makes her think this trip  might not be all bad.

Weston on the other hand just wants to get through another one of these crazy ideas his brothers have for making enough money to keep the creditors from taking the ranch. He figures during this trip he’ll be able to convince his brother’s this is not the route they want to take to try to save it, but rather a more family less sexy approach would work just as well. When he happens upon Tess, a spark ignites in him that can’t be quenched by anyone but her. To stave off the single women, he strikes a bargain with her to protect his virtue and gain some ideas on how to save the ranch.

After a lot of forced time together they discover not only do they have the hots for one another, but they also make a good sounding board for one another about their problems. Weston gives Tess enough confidence for her to branch out on her own rather than work for companies that want to suck her creativity and where others take credit for her work and ideas. She gives Weston a great idea on how to save the ranch and make it a family destination rather than a singles excursion.

There are a lot more things going on than just keeping the ranch a float, but the the romance is really what makes it work. There is a lot of misunderstanding and misdirection between them that gives you a good laugh as well. I’m sure she has plans to tell us the tales of the rest of the brothers and I can’t wait to read those.

I’m giving this a 5 of 5 propellers. Although I’m reviewing this in 2021 I actually read it in 2020, so it will most likely make my best of 2020 list. Coming to you later next week. Until then, pick this one up and let us know what you thing about it.

Best-selling, award winning, author Alyssa Drake has been creating stories since she could hold a pen, preferring to construct her own bedtime tales instead of reading the titles in her bookshelves. Enraptured with many different types of genres, Alyssa currently writes Historical romance, Paranormal/Urban Fantasy romance, Contemporary romance, and Dark romance stories. She thoroughly enjoys strong heroines and often laughs aloud when imagining conversations between her characters.

Alyssa graduated from the University of the Pacific, with a B.S. in business and a concentration in French literature. Currently she resides in Northern California with her blended family, where she works full-time at a chocolate factory.

She believes everyone is motivated by love of someone or something. One of her favorite diversions is fabricating stories about strangers surrounding her on public transportation. Alyssa can often be found madly scribbling notes on a train or daydreaming out the window as the scenery whips past.
