NICUnurse’s Review of A Kiss for You anthology

A Kiss for You is a collection of books that packs a considerable punch in more ways than one. It’s a HUGE book and a massive bang for your buck. With five full novels, this book is not something you’ll be able to devour in one day…unless you don’t sleep for a full 24 hours, that is! I’m going to review each novel separately here, but I’ll try not to make it very wordy.

The Dark Ones by Rachel Van Dyken

It’s no secret I’ve been a fan of Rachel Van Dyken for quite some time. She literally tops my list of 1-click authors right under Nora Roberts! When you are an avid reader, every once in a while, you are lucky enough to find someone who writes what resonates with you, and as I’ve said before, I hit the jackpot when I stumbled upon my first RVD book about six years ago. I’ve pretty much devoured everything she’s ever written since then.

NICUnurse’s Rating: I read this book when it was first published back in 2015, but I’ve never reviewed it. I wasn’t a reviewer at that time and had no idea how critical reviews were to authors. I’ve learned a lot since then. OK. The review. When I first read this book, I wasn’t a huge paranormal romance fan unless you’re Nora Roberts. But because I was already hooked on RVD’s writing, I gave it a shot. It’s now my second favorite book series of hers! It’s a bit dark, twisty, and suspense-y, but with some very amusing moments tossed in (part of why I love her books so much!). Hang on to your hats because this one will leave you ready to dive into the rest of The Dark Ones books ASAP!

I give The Dark Ones by Rachel Van Dyken 4.5 out of 5 propellers!

Bad Penny by Staci Hart

If you like friends-to-lovers books, this will be your jam. I don’t think I’d ever read a book by Staci Hart before, and let me tell you; I’ve been missing out!

NICUnurse’s Rating: When the nerdy kid from high school turns out to be one hot adult, this is what happens! Penny has been horribly hurt by her very first relationship; therefore, she avoids them like the plague. She changes her men about as often, if not more, than she changes her hair color. Enter Bodie. They were friends in high school, him with a raging crush, but she doesn’t recognize him. Deciding Fate is finally in his corner, Bodie launches his plan to win her over to the relationship side for good.

I love books where the underdog, or former underdog in this case, finally gets the girl. And Bodie is that guy. The sweet guy you were friends with in high school, and because of what he went through back then, he’s an all-around great guy now. Despite major reservations, he knows Penny is worth it all. And boy does he show her. And I loved how these two characters overcame their past hurts and their present fears to risk it all for love.

I give Bad Penny by Staci Hart 4 out of 5 propellers!

King by T.M. Frazier

I will honestly admit that I’m not a big fan of MC romance books. There are a few authors that write them, or more like fringe MC, I guess, that I’ll read and have been pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. I’ve added the King series by this author to that list now.

NICUnurse’s Rating: Honestly, it took me a while to really get into this book. It’s raw, gritty, and a bit crude and cruel in the beginning. While it doesn’t lose it’s raw, gritty, and crude much at all (but that’s what makes it work), once I got past the rudest part, I found myself not wanting to put this one down. And I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would in the beginning. It’s a bit of a bully romance meets enemies to lovers romance, so if this is your jam, you’re really going to love this book.

I give King by T.M. Frazier 4 out of 5 propellers!

Tyrant by T.M. Frazier

Tyrant picks up where King left off. These two were originally written as a duet, so you do need to read King first. And after reading King, there was no way I could walk away from this duet without knowing just how this all would end for King and Doe.

NICUnurse’s Rating: This book was heartbreakingly emotional from the get-go as you learn so much more about Doe and King’s pasts. I’d categorize this as more of a romantic suspense book than an MC romance. And I love romantic suspense books, so this one had me hooked from the first chapter. And then some. I’m now working my way through the series!

I give Tyrant by T.M. Frazier 4.5 out of 5 propellers!

The Wright Brother by K.A. Linde

One of the reasons I wanted to read A Kiss for You is because of how many new-to-me authors were in this one. I’m always on the hunt for my next favorite author, and I’ve found a few in this anthology that I’ll definitely be picking up more of their works from now on! K.A. Linde is now on that list!

NICUnurse’s Rating: This is the first in a billionaire romance series by this author. I’m also not a huge fan of billionaire romances, but it was worth a shot at a new-to-me author. Thankfully, it was worth my time and money!

When Emery runs home to her small town after finding her boyfriend cheating, she thinks she’s done with men for good––until her BFF drags her to a wedding as her plus one. Enter Jensen, her high school ex-boyfriend’s oldest brother and now CEO of Wright Construction. Knowing that a relationship with his little brother’s ex should be out of the question, Jensen can’t help but keep Emery to himself. What happens when it all comes to light? Well, you get a very angsty, emotional, and heartbreaking read. But don’t worry, K.A. Linde will mend that broken heart in the end. If you love opposites-attract romances, small-town romances, and billionaire romances, this book has it all tied into a neat and entertaining bow for you with a very happy ever after.

I give The Wright Brother by K.A. Linde 4 out of 5 propellers!
