My name is Bianca Castello. I’m a mafia princess who’s being forced to marry a Fed. Apparently, the sexy stranger is desperate enough to make a deal with my brother in exchange for a favor. And favors are hard to come by in this world. But Jack Connelly’s an outsider. He hasn’t heard the rumors. He doesn’t know the things I’ve done to protect my family or the reason why every single made man refuses to touch me. If he did, he’d stop looking at me like I’m a fallen angel. He’d realize the truth. I’m nothing but the devil’s plaything.

BlueSeal’s Review of Black Jack

Black Jack is book five in Kelsie Rae’s Advantage Play Series.  Each book is a standalone BUT I really think that you will miss so much of this beautifully created storyline if you do not read it in order from beginning to end:  Wild Card, Dark King, Little Bird, Bitter Queen, and then you can read Black Jack.  The Advantage Play Series has been a step into the dark side of Kelsie Rae who started her writing career with the Signature Sweetheart Series.  I feel the need to re-state that this is a series for readers 18 and over due to the sensitive subject matter.  Grab your tumbler of whiskey and box of tissues, come into my office, and let’s chat about Kelsie Rae’s Black Jack (read that sentence using your best Godfather voice).

In order to save his job with the FBI, Jack makes a deal with the devil. He agrees to marry Bianca, the sister of the only person who can prove that his boss is a dirty Fed. Being the standup guy that he is, Jack is determined to make a real marriage out of this sham that he has agreed to but strikes out every time he tries to get to know the real Bianca. Will this beautiful woman ever let her guard down?

After growing up in a mafia family, Bianca thinks that all men are the same. They treat the women in their lives like inconsequential objects to be used at someone else’s disposal. Like a pawn in a game of life or death which is why Bianca’s mask never comes off. Despite many attempts to prove otherwise, Jack is just like the other men. After all, they are married because he made a deal with her brother and Bianca is going to make him regret that.

On the surface, Bianca and Jack could not be more different but are they really? When you peel away the many layers that both of them hide under, you might find a couple who belong together. Like the other books in the Advantage Play Series, these characters are beautifully developed and you can’t help but fall in love with them individually and as a couple who deserve love. If I”m being honest, you might start out hating Bianca a little bit. I did.

I am a huge fan of Kelsie Rae and it has been so much fun to watch her writing develop and grow and this series is proof of her development as a writer.

My rating of Kelsie Rae’s Black Jack…5 out of 5 propellers and the Advantage Play series…5 out of 5 propellers!

About the author

Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels. When she’s not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, hanging out with her husband and playing with her three kiddos who love to drive her crazy. She adores photography, baking, her yorkie, Bob, and her devon rex, Mara. And now that she’s actively pursuing her writing dreams, she’s set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not binge-watch an entire series on Netflix in one sitting.
