About the Book

From the moment Julie sees her best friend, Gavin, in the airport, it’s like no time at all has gone by instead of months and months. No matter how long they’ve been apart, their relationship has always been steady, comfortable, and decidedly just friends. Even though their meddling parents have hung what seems like unlimited amounts of mistletoe everywhere she goes this holiday season, Julie knows some things will never change.

Gavin is well-aware his family’s wanted him and Julie to get together since forever, even though he’s been friend-zoned since they could talk—and he’s been happy to play that role. After all, as the new starting quarterback for the San Antonio Mustangs, he’s got enough on his plate without adding romance to the mix.

But between playing elves in the holiday bazaar to nights spent one-on-one watching rom-coms or soaking in their town’s hot springs, suddenly the “reverse parent trap” they’ve fallen into is actually starting to work. But this could be one scheme where letting themselves get trapped might be way too dangerous.

NICUnurse’s Review of The Mistletoe Trap by Cindi Madsen

The Mistletoe Trap is the second book in Cindi Madsen’s Heart in the Game series. Both books are written as stand-alone titles, but I quite simply adore this author and her books so I highly recommend reading both books in this series. However, you can read this book purely on its own and have no problems following characters or the plot. I love pretty much everything else she’s written, and she’s one of my automatic 1-click authors for a reason. Cindi Madsen writes books with a bit of snark and humor sprinkled in with the romance, all while tackling some of today’s biggest issues within the pages.

NICUnurse’s Rating: When your parents have been besties since before you were born, and everyone is convinced you should be together, there’s no end to the crazy shenanigans they can come up with in hopes of making all their wishes about their kids come true. I love a friends-to-lovers romance (once upon a time, my best friend was a guy, just like Julie’s is, but my story turned out nothing like hers–in my case, thankfully!), and I love Cindi Madsen’s books, so there was no way I wasn’t going to adore this book. I couldn’t help but fall in love with ALL of the characters. And the snark and LOL moments that were classic Cindi Madsen had me wishing I hadn’t started reading it at bedtime because it was all I could do to NOT wake my husband up literally laughing out loud at several points in the story. But also in true Cindi Madsen fashion were the parts that broke my heart for our hero and heroine. Needless to say,

it was the perfect holiday romance to get me in the mood for Christmas music, decorations, and food. I loved every moment of this story! If you’re looking for a holiday romance that has it all: a sense of humor, a great plot, wonderful and lovable characters, and emotional scenes all with a bit of snark to keep it from being too heavy at times, this book is just what you’re looking for.

And Check out The Wedding Deal!

Former quarterback Lance Quaid just inherited the most losing team in the NFL. He’s got only a few weeks until draft day to turn things around, and after firing more than half his staff, he can’t do it alone. Thankfully, his HR manager is more than capable, if only she’d stop focusing on “due diligence” and stop looking so sexy while she’s yelling at him.

Charlotte James has made a life out of following the rules. But nothing could have prepared her for Lance Quaid—he’s a human resources nightmare. The man is brash, has no filter, and, as her new boss, is constantly relying on her to cover his ass. Which is admittedly quite nice.

When Lance begs her to join him on a trip down the coast for his brother’s wedding so they can finalize details—on a strictly business basis—she agrees…after they fill out the necessary forms, of course. Away from the office, though, sparks start flying as the team starts coming together. But both of them know anything more than the weekend would be a colossally bad idea—after all, the extra paperwork would be a nightmare.

NICUnurse’s Review of The Wedding Deal by Cindi Madsen

I’m a huge fan of Cindi Madsen’s books, so I had snagged this one on its release day. My TBR is daunting on the best of days, so it just sat there for over a year. The second book in this series was coming soon, so I figured it was about darn time to dive in!

NICUnurse’s Rating: Just…siiiiigh. I loved it. And at every turn, I questioned myself as to how I could have just let this awesome book sit on my kindle TBR list for over a freaking year before I finally picked it up and read it. I loved this story for all of the reasons that I usually love her books: strong characters (especially our heroine), snarky humor, and a great storyline that isn’t your typical one for the trope she’s writing in. Their trip to the beach was so fun to read, but the part I loved the most, I think, was how Lance’s family welcomed Charlotte in like she was one of their own and wouldn’t allow her to be all work and no play. If you like sports romances that aren’t your typical player (on and off the field) turns into a one-woman man, you’re going to love this book just like I did.
