A Paranormal Women’s Fiction novel for anyone who thought adventure and magic stopped at forty. Guess again, it’s just the beginning.
I never expected I’d be one of those people who had a midlife crisis. Sure, I’m over forty, and married, but my kids are grown and moved out. Life is steady, if predictably boring.
That all changes when my husband asks for a divorce and my whole world crashes. Everything I thought I knew, everything I am, gone in an instant.
But I am not about to give up. After all, at my age, technically, I’m only halfway there.
I am ready to tackle my do-over; my chance to become the me I’ve always dreamed of. Starting with moving into my late grandma’s cottage and adopting a new kitten.
However, my new life is a little odder than expected. Old books suddenly appearing in my house. Neighbors going missing. A supposed lake monster, and a strange man who likes to skulk around with an axe.
I’m going to need to lean on my friends, new and old, to help me navigate my midlife crisis. Together maybe we will find a way to beat the family curse ruining my second chance at life.

I think my midlife crisis is trying to kill me.
First my ex-husband, who tried to murder me, escapes prison. Then a tree falls on my car – with me in it! Add in a haunting at my new shop, plus a house that’s suddenly infested with monsters, and I am in serious need of intervention – or a few drinks. Maybe then I’ll understand how I’m able to do magic and see things no one else can.
But it’s not all bad. I’m dating someone for the first time in twenty years and remembering what it’s like to feel that anticipation before a kiss.
At the same time, maybe I should hold off as the weirdness in my life takes monstrous shape-literally-and I can’t help but realize that magic is real. I truly am a witch and I know something bad is coming. Even scarier? I might be the only one who can stop it.
My poor little town is so screwed.

Fly Girl’s Review
So I was going to do these books separate, but when I finished the first book, although I liked it, I wanted to see how book two went. Book two was certainly the hook for me. Halfway There has a whole lot of world and life building in it so there isn’t as much adventure and the plot isn’t as apparent as I thought they should be. This is very different from her other series because usually each book in the series is about another couple with a smattering of people from the previous books thrown in so you get a little more and a little more of the world each time. This one however is about Naomi all the way through so the setup is much bigger in the first book. It’s not a bad thing, but it makes it a little slow to get into. About 1/3 of the way through On My Way, you’ll be invested and hooked. Sadly we have to wait until next year for the final installment. But hey, if you like Eve like I do, she has a lot coming out between now and then.
Back to book one. We get a full on frontal view of Naomi’s life and the trainwreck it has become with the little words of her husband “I want a divorce.” At first this seems devastating to the 40 something, but as she reflects throughout this book she realizes her life sucked before he asked for the divorce. But because she’s been cursed, or hindered…her magic is continually backfiring on her and bringing her nothing but bad luck. If I didn’t know better, I’d say her ex is tied to that curse also because he is a crazy stalker that just wants to kill her anyway he can.
When circumstances leave her with no other options, she falls back on her Grandmother’s old house to start her life over. When people in town keep claiming she’s a witch she laughs it off and the next bad thing happens to her. And on we go through the book. The one good thing she discovers is a couple of great friends and some super sexy men all too willing to help her. She goes from zero to three in a matter of days. For a 40 something she has something going on, she just doesn’t know it yet.
Although this story is about how she gets her magic back and the great mystery of why her grandmother hid it from her it’s really about how someone who is facing a midlife crisis feels as they try to turn the corner from overworked, underpaid, and unhappy to joyful, don’t give two F***s, and truly happy. This process, as I’m realizing is not for the faint of heart and you must be able to embrace the suck!! Whether it’s hair loss or a divorce or hot flashes! Only two of those three for me so I guess I’m doing pretty good.
Book two, On My Way finds Naomi still working to find her groove and the whole town helping her do it. Yes, bad things are still happening, but she’s starting to find her world is much larger than she first imagined and by the end she has fireballs coming out of her hands. So pretty much it’s a super big win. She also starts to find the courage inside herself to forget what is behind her and strive for something she’s never really had…true happiness with great friends and family and maybe a love interest. When big things start to happen around her lakehouse she gets help from very unexpected sources. The mystery is still not solved, but really it is a three book series. Again, it’s more self discovery than romance but I think the romance is waiting to be fully awakened in book three. Sadly we have to wait for it to arrive in 2021.
Honestly with the way 2020 has gone, this series couldn’t have come at a better time. Almost as if she wrote some of the 2020 script while writing this one. I mean we all seem to be on a trail of self discovery after some very horrible things have happened to us or around us, and this is just the work from home syndrome, not the rest of the storm we’ve been staring down the eye of for, oh, seven months. Hopefully the wrap up of this tale will bring a wrap up of this horrible year.
Although I wasn’t sure after book one I’m still giving this series a 5 of 5 so far even with the cliffhanger. You all know it must be good for me to give it that score with a cliffhanger. Buy them now, binge read or listen, let me know what you think!!
