EGOTISTICAL JERK
BY A.K. MACBRIDE
I had one goal: To learn from Sebastian Ryker.

He was an award-winning physician in his field of medicine.

A genius who could diagnose you with the barest of symptoms.

The best of the best.

Too bad he turned out to be an egotistical jerk.

Mere hours into my first day, I realized that the man I had idolized for years
didn’t live up to the hype.

He was rude, arrogant, and totally full of… himself.

It was clear that my presence bothered him, that I was nothing more than an
irritation.

So, why did I want to melt into a puddle whenever those dark eyes were trained
on me?

And why didn’t I listen when my head warned my heart that he’d break it in two?

I had one goal: To learn from Sebastian Ryker, not fall in love with him.

BlueSeal’s Review of Egotistical Jerk

Egotistical Jerk is one of the newest additions to the Cocky Hero Club. I have read and enjoyed several books in the club but A. K. Macbride is a new author for me. I was intrigued by the blurb because it reminded me of one of my favorite TV shows – House. I loved the prickly genius Dr. Gregory House.  Grab a seat and let’s see if A. K. Macbride’s Egotistical Jerk lives up to my expectations.

Dr. Sebastian Ryker is the head of diagnostics at Memorial Hospital.  His elite team of doctors is the best around.  His brain never leaves the hospital.  There was always some new disease just waiting to be diagnosed.  He didn’t have the time or energy to date.

Dr. Mia Phillips is one of the four hand-selected doctors on Memorial Hospital’s new diagnostics team.  After three months only of them would remain on the diagnostics floor.  It was Mia’s dream job, a chance to work with her hero – Dr. Ryker.

This was definitely an enemies-to-lovers romance!  After a rough introduction, Sebastian and Mia hate each other, or at least they think that is what is causing the tension.  This book takes you thought the whole gamut of emotions and leaves you worn out.  While I really enjoyed the love story, I missed the medical side of it so it left me wanting.  (Remember how much I loved House?)

My rating of Egotistical Jerk by A. K. Macbride…..3.5 out 5 propellers.

COCKY CARPENTER

BY MAGGIE MUNDY

A year in
Australia working as a doctor sounds like a great idea to Autumn. She can
escape the cold English weather, her ex-husband and a stalker. A year to get
her life back together and not have any romantic involvements.
‘Love them
and leave them wanting’ is Brett’s motto. That is until he sees Doctor Autumn
Blake. This lady just might get through that tough layer he has built around
himself.
Can the
sexual chemistry they feel be just that, or could it be more?
Is one year
long enough for these two people to forget their pasts and grab onto a chance
of love or will they lose it forever.

BlueSeal’s Review of Cocky Carpenter

Dr. Autumn Blake needs a change of scenery so when a job opportunity comes up in Australia, she decides to move to the outback leaving behind a newly engaged ex-husband and a stalker. Brett is the guy next door, literally.  He owns the house that Autumn is renting and is living next door with his trusty dog while fixing it up.

Autumn thought that leaving England meant leaving her troubles behind but she was wrong…deadly wrong.  Far too soon, her past finds her in Australia putting both she and Brett in danger.

There are many things that I liked about this book but what I love is the main character with a disability!  Autumn proved time and time again that she was more than her disability and the fact that  Brett embraced it made me love him even more.  Brett and Autumn have a hilarious relationship.  Literally, anything that could go wrong went wrong from a cockblocking dog to getting lost in the outback and was so much fun to follow their misadventures.  I do have a question.  Who is the real hero in the story?  Autumn or Brett?  Or is perhaps both of them?  I will let you decided.

My rating of Cocky Carpenter by Maggie Mundy….4 out of 5 propellers.
