I’ve been a fan of Adriana Locke’s writing for a while. I can’t say I’ve read all of her books, so I can’t call myself a megafan. But she’s definitely on my list of authors that I really enjoy their books. Adriana Locke’s writing just resonates with me. I can’t quite put my finger on the why of it. But it does. I guess it’s like any other relationship in your life. Some you are drawn to and some you aren’t. It’s part of why I love reading new-to-me authors. It’s kind of like the speed dating of the book world. And I hit the jackpot when I landed on my first Adriana Locke book. Now, I can’t help but come back, over and over again. 

NICUnurse’s Rating: I think the thing that keeps drawing me back to Adriana Locke’s books is how she can take a seemingly normal life (for the most part) and turn it into an interesting read. Restraint was just that. You have two fairly normal characters in Blair and Holt. Both are good-looking, intelligent, successful, and love their families. Through a couple of fateful events, their lives cross paths and there’s the start to their love story. There’s no huge scandal or newsworthy event that brings them together or tears them apart. Just…life and their own personal previous experiences. I wish I had better words because that description makes the book sound boring, but I promise that it’s definitely NOT boring.   

Restraint is full of fun and funny characters, flawed, yet lovable hero and heroine, and plenty of emotional scenes. There’s some wit, some sarcasm, and some very serious and heavy parts, as well. And somehow the author makes them all add up to one very entertaining story. For contemporary romance fans, this book will be the perfect escape from our crazy reality.

I give Restraint by Adriana Locke 4 out of 5 propellers!
