I will always be here for you. There isn’t a world that exists where I’m not gonna be around for you.
When the Time is Right, an all-new friends-to-lovers standalone from USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez and M. Mabie is available now!
Fate doesn’t always happen overnight.
Hudson Bradley is the cockiest, most stubborn, hard-headed man I’ve ever known. And for fifteen years, he’s been my brother’s best friend.
But lately, what I’m feeling for him isn’t friendship at all.
Why is my heart racing every time his blue eyes lock on mine?
Why does every word he rumbles in my ear make my body come alive?
And worst of all, why did I bet him that I could find a woman he and his son would both love?
If I hadn’t given up on love altogether, Hudson would have been perfect for me. After all, he was there the day my world fell apart. He’s spent the last six years piecing me back together.
There are a million reasons why we could never work, but after a single kiss, I can’t remember any of them.
Now that the time is right, I have to make him mine—before I lose him forever.
NICUnurse’s Review of When the Time is Right
I’ve been a fan of Aly Martinez’s writing for quite a while. M. Mabie was new to me when I first read When the Walls Come Down, also by this duo. You can find my review of that book here. I’ll be checking out M. Mabie’s books really soon!
Let me just start this review off by saying that these two should never stop writing together! I know they each have their solo careers that they do have to continue and nurture. But when they have the time, they totally rock as a writing duo! I’ve read numerous books by two authors. It’s really hard to get the seamless transition just right so that it’s not obvious which author is writing which part. It’s hard because each author has a distinct voice. But these two mesh the writing in such a way that it’s very difficult to tell who wrote what part. Sometimes you want that transition to be obvious because the characters are so different. But Hudson and Lex had known each other for most of their lives and their lives already meshed so well that unraveling that relationship would have unraveled everything. So the transition needed to mesh just as well as they did. This story just simply flowed well…kind of like the ebb and flow of the tides of the ocean. Not jarring like the waves. Smooth and seamless as the tides.
What I liked about the book: The friendship between Hudson and Lex. It was real. And there was no hidden agenda for either of them. This romance truly snuck up on them despite the fact that it was years in the making. Not to mention, this book totally embodied the truth that family isn’t always made up of blood relatives. Family can truly be anything that you make it. And the dating challenge was hysterical. Also loved the texting!
NICUnurse’s Rating: Just like When the Walls Come Down, this book had a little of everything. A little rom-com, angst, and just plain good old-fashioned friends-to-lovers romance. The characters felt like they could be my family and friends, and I quite simply fell in love with little Jack. I laughed, I cringed, I seethed, and I sighed. Probably a few more emotions in there, but those were the most prominent.
If you’re a contemporary romance and friends-to-lovers romance fan, this book is definitely one that you should not miss. I think you’re going to love Hudson, Lex, and Jack as much as I did.
I give When the Time is Right by Aly Martinez & M. Mabie 5 out of 5 propellers!

About Aly
Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.
Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and olives. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.
She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.

About M. Mabie
M. Mabie lives in Illinois with her husband. She writes everything from steamy romantic comedies to angst-filled, pull your hair out drama. She enjoys it all. With her unconventional love stories, she tries to embody “real-life romance.”
She cares about politics, but will not discuss them in public. She uses the same fork at every meal, watches Wayne’s World while cleaning, and lets her dog sleep on her head. She has always been a writer. In fact, she was born with a pen in her hand, which almost never happens. Almost.
M. Mabie usually doesn’t speak in third-person. She promises.
