After three years in Credence trying to fade into the background, Della Munroe is sick of being invisible. She’s ready to take back control. To live a little. NICUnurse’s Review of Asking for Trouble by Amy Andrews

I’ve read a few of Amy Andrew’s books and have enjoyed my time spent in each one. Asking for Trouble is the third book in her Credence, Colorado series. All of the books in this series are stand-alone titles. And I can say with one hundred percent certainty that Asking for Trouble is a true stand-alone because I haven’t read any of the other books in the Credence, Colorado series, and at no time did I feel lost or like I was missing a huge piece of the backstory. She did a wonderful job filling in any holes without making the reader feel like it was an information dump.

Asking for Trouble is an emotional journey of one young woman who has been rescued from unspeakable trauma and has worked hard to heal and move forward. After years of having no one to turn to, for the last few years she’s had her brother she never knew about and a town that has loved and supported her in so many ways. She’s also made some pretty wonderful, if not somewhat unique friends that are ready to support and encourage her through learning what becoming a normal young, single woman today looks like. Including falling for her brother’s best friend.  

NICUnurse’s Rating: This book tackles the very emotional topic of abuse: emotional, physical, and sexual, so beware of that going in. There shouldn’t be any triggers, but I’m not a professional, so I can’t say that with one hundred percent accuracy. There are a few flashback scenes to fill in Della’s backstory, but they aren’t too bad, in my opinion. What this story does show us is that there can be triumph in survival and learning what being “normal” can mean. And Della does this in a very unique way (but with unwavering support from her therapist). So, what you end up with is a well-written story of survival, finding healing and a new normal, and finding love when coming out the other side of trauma…with a hefty dose of sexy times thrown in. There are some truly laugh-out-loud comedic moments that will have you cheering for Della and her crazy, quirky group of friends that offer her unconditional friendship and unwavering support. And it left me definitely wanting more from these characters!

I give Asking for Trouble by Amy Andrews 4 out of 5 propellers!
