BOOK BLURB

Gabe

The new Assistant U.S. Attorney was the last person I needed in my business… or my bar. The way she walked in wearing a tight suit and red power heels, flashing that badge should be illegal.

Asking her for help was a mistake. Wanting her was a complication, one that I couldn’t afford. We were from two different worlds.

Taylor was spoiled, privileged and in way over her head. I was just the bad boy that girls like her were attracted to, a passing phase.

I was no good for her and never would be.

Taylor

New Orleans was a fresh start, a chance to reinvent myself and do some good. Too bad the first person I met was a grumpy bar owner with a chip on his shoulder.

He said I knew nothing about his city, the people or what they needed. But one look at the bad boy bartender and I knew exactly what I needed. Even if I refused to admit it.

Gabe was a connection to the community. Offering to waitress at his bar in exchange for his help had nothing to do with his flexing biceps or tattoos.

He thought he knew me, that I couldn’t handle him or the city… but he was wrong.

NICUnurse’s Review of Easy Moves by Lea Coll

Lea Coll is a new-to-me author, and Easy Moves can be read as a standalone title. This book blurb grabbed my attention for a couple of reasons. First of all, I love Kristen Proby’s Boudreaux series and this book is a part of the Boudreaux world. Secondly, I also love New Orleans. It’s almost like stepping into a new world when you’re there. And the third thing that caught my attention in the blurb is that it’s a true opposites-attract book that takes on not just the bad boy/good girl theme. It kind of one-ups that trope and throws in the fact that the main characters are opposite in almost EVERY way you can think of. Economic. How they were raised. Career paths. Family dynamics. All of it. And I like to read stories like this in which the author takes a fairly commonly written trope, yet writes something that’s new and refreshing within it.

Gabe is a once upon a time bad boy that is working hard to change his image despite his past. And he’s not really a bad guy. He’s kind of like a porcupine…prickly on the outside but has a big, squishy heart that he tries to hide. Taylor is a good girl who grew up in a good home, yet she’s faced, and is still facing, some pretty daunting and challenging things in her life. But she has an open mind about New Orleans and its people. And she has this huge heart. But she’s not a pushover, either. And that’s what makes her perfect for Gabe. He still sees himself a certain way and tends to lash out at those closest to him. Taylor doesn’t let him get away with it, no matter how much she’s attracted to him. And that, in turn, is a challenge to Gabe, which ratchets up his interest in her.

NICUnurse’s Rating: This book was a pleasant surprise for me. Having never read anything by this author, it was bound to be a 50/50 chance, and I’m really glad that I took that chance. It was well written, with a storyline that flowed easily (and well done), and characters that were easy to fall in love with (and not just the hero & heroine). And a really great HEA! It’s a story that will tug at your heartstrings, for sure, and will leave you cheering for all the underdogs.

I give Easy Moves by Lea Coll 5 out of 5 propellers!
