About GIRL IN LUV

Langley Vaughn is in desperate need of a date.

But not just any date.

She’s looking for a date to the wedding from hell. It isn’t every day you’re forced to be in the bridal party while your first love marries your archnemesis…otherwise known as the world’s worst stepsister. The entire situation is a nightmare, and Langley is sick and tired of taking orders and forcing a fake smile. She’s done being the bad guy when she was the one who was wronged.

She needs to find a date who’s not afraid of her family’s money…someone willing to shake things up. She needs someone outside of her normal social circle, someone ready to go to war with the well-to-do. She needs someone who won’t back down. Someone willing to play the complicated game of tug-of-war she’s been engaged in with her family for years.

Never in a million years did she think she was going to stumble across her very own heroic heartthrob when she set her crazy plan in motion.

Not only does Iker show up for her time and time again, he also forces her to finally fight for herself.

He says he’s only there for the money…but his actions speak so much louder than his words.

Iker Alvarez would do anything and everything to get his hands on some quick cash.

Not just any cash, but enough to make sure his younger brother gets into the college of his dreams.

Thank goodness for a desperate, pretty little rich girl with too much money and her heart set on an outrageous scheme. Being in the right place at the right time might just be the answer to both of their prayers—and this smart soldier has never let a golden opportunity slide by.

Iker doesn’t mind coming to Langley’s rescue and being her plus-one…as long as the price is right.

Only, he didn’t plan on liking the blonde socialite as much as he does. He is totally unprepared for the pull he feels toward her, coupled with his growing desire to protect her from the vultures and villains living under the same roof.

He wants to be the guy who keeps her safe and gives her the courage she obviously needs to fight back… But someone else, someone far more powerful and influential than Langley’s wealthy family, has dibs on Iker’s time and on his future. He knows he isn’t the guy Langley can count on in the long run, but damn, if he doesn’t want to do everything in his power to be that man.

NICUnurse’s Review of Girl in Luv and Boy in Luv

I’ve been a huge fan of Rebecca Yarros’s words since I stumbled upon her book Full Measures way back in 2014. It’s still one of my most favorite books ever. Then, I was lucky enough to meet and interview her at RT in 2017. She’s one of the nicest, most down to earth people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in the romance book world. Since I devoured Full Measures, I’ve read every book she’s ever published and can’t say enough good things about them all. Seriously…if you’ve never read her books, you really, really should.

I’ve also been a huge fan of Jay Crownover’s words since I found her book Rule in her Marked Men series not long after I discovered Rebecca Yarros. I’ve been following her on social media and via her newsletter for years but recently got to meet her at Apollycon 2019, and she’s as down to earth, fun, and crazy as she seems online. By the way, I devoured Rule in a few hours and have read almost everything Jay’s written since. I may have missed a book or two but if I have, you’d better believe I’m going to remedy that and soon! Seriously…if you haven’t ever read any of her books, you really, really should read hers too.

So why all of this backstory? There’s a good reason for it. These two authors are not only skilled storytellers, but they are also friends and neighbors, and those of us that love them and their talented writing abilities have been clamoring for YEARS for them to collaborate on a book. And they FINALLY gave us what we’ve been desiring for so long in Girl in Luv and Boy in Luv. Were they worth the wait? Abso-freakin’-lutely!

Girl in Luv and Boy in Luv are NOT standalone books. There is a cliffhanger at the end of Girl in Luv which is why I refused to read Girl in Luv until I could read Boy in Luv as soon as I finished. The books were originally offered as part of an exclusive pre-order deal for each author’s release this year, and I waited to read them both until Jay’s book released MONTHS after Rebecca’s because I knew these two were going to rip my heart out with Girl in Luv. I was not wrong. (They did manage to salvage my heart and piece it back together with Boy in Luv, so take heart!) Do yourself a favor and get them BOTH before you dive in. Just trust me on this.

Now to the important part: the review! Let’s talk characters because I do NOT want to spoil the story. It’s too good to do that. I want Langley to be my BFF. Sure, she’s rich and beautiful, but she’s also hard-working, fun, loyal, and fierce. She’s the type of girl who’d be your ride or die. When life knocks her down, she picks herself back up and strides forward with her head held high no matter how much her heart is breaking or how badly she wants to let herself fall apart…but refuses to give in to that desire. Iker is one of the good guys. He was given a chance to make something of himself, and he took it and ran with it. He’s taking care of his family the best way he knows how and is more than willing to sacrifice everything in order for his little brother to have the future Iker thinks he deserves. But he sees something incredibly valuable in Langley. And she sees something incredibly valuable in Iker. They come from two very different worlds, though, so how can they make this work…or can they?

NICUnurse’s Rating: These authors do angst like no others, in my humble opinion. And the Luv duet is full of angst (and sexy times too!). But these books are SO much more than those two elements. Jay’s and Rebecca’s writing styles are very distinct, but they complement each other so, so well. Long-time fans of both authors are sitting back, smiling, and telling them, “We told you so!” right about now. I know I’ve said it before but let me just state it one more time: This collaboration was MORE than worth the wait and it did NOT disappoint! These books will be ones I read over, and over, and over again.

I give Girl in Luv and Boy in Luv by Jay Crownover and Rebecca Yarros 5 out of 5 propellers!

About BOY IN LUV

Distance sure as hell made his heart grow fonder… But it shattered hers into a million pieces.

Langley Vaughn knows she’s never going to make the same mistake again.

Who falls head over heels in love in a week? Langley did, and she’s regretted it every day since she handed her heart to a boy with too many secrets and too much baggage. Iker doesn’t fit into Langley’s world, and he made it clear he doesn’t want to. He left before she even got a chance to try and change his mind or to prove to him how good they could be together. Langley’s spent the last nine months healing her heart and making big plans for the future. Plans that absolutely don’t include Iker… even though he’s back, looking better than ever, and saying all the right things.

Iker Alvarez knows he made the biggest mistake of his life.

At first, the pretty blonde in the red dress was nothing more than a means to an end. But, she quickly became so much more. As soon as Iker walked away from Langley, claiming it was for her own good, he knew he screwed up. He left her so she wouldn’t worry about him when he deployed, so she wouldn’t waste her time waiting around for a guy who was never going to be good enough for her. Only, nine months and a deployment later, Iker still can’t get Langley out of his head… and he totally underestimated the hold she has on his hardened heart. He’s a guy who’s not sure how love should work, or how to go about winning his girl back…he’s about to get a crash course in both.
