About the Book

When Phillip Blackthorne secures his title as Harvard’s most mischievous co-ed with a prank that makes the campus newspaper, he also loses his first love and complete opposite, Ashley Catherine Cartwright.

Twelve years later, another of Phillip’s stunts goes wrong when his runaway golf cart crashes through Ashley’s charity event on live TV. Their reunion goes viral—not only for the classic car he’s forced to donate but the sparks that everyone but Ashley can see.

Phillip is determined to win her heart again, but his shot at a second chance is doomed if Ashley refuses to see that life’s unexpected hurdles can be the best part of a happily ever after.

NICUnurse’s Review of Phillip by Cristin Harber

I’ve been a fan of Cristin Harber for a long time. Admittedly, it’s been a while since I read a new book from this author, and I couldn’t be happier!

Phillip Blackthorne doesn’t take life too seriously. Always ready for a prank or goodhearted fun, not much gets him down. But when his reunion with his one true love, Ashley Cartwright is caught on video and goes viral, he realizes he has to fix this disaster. Will Ashley finally break the chains her mother has on her for good and learn to embrace fun and spontaneity? Or will her stubbornness win out?

So far, all the Blackthornemen have endeared themselves to me (save Graham), and Phillip did not disappoint. Always feeling like a black sheep in his family made him rebel by seemingly not taking anything in life seriously. But that’s not who he really desires to be. Ashly is struggling to live her own life away from the imposing personality of her mother. But that leaves little time for the spontaneous. Working together may just be the ultimate end of any possible future.

NICUnurse’s Rating:  The series has been fun and entertaining so far. My heart actually went out to Phillip as he was desperately trying to win his first love back. He deals with some pretty heavy issues, and I was happy to see that he was able to work through them and come out on the other side a better, more mature version of himself. And Ashley had her own burdens to work through, as well. While I’m partial to the military romances Cristin Harber writes, Phillip was an enjoyable read and worth my time. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this series ultimately ends! I give Phillip by Ciristin Harber 4 out of 5 stars!
