DEFINITELY, MAYBE…OR LOVE, ACTUALLY?

English professor Bonnie Blythe expects her life to play out like her favorite novels, especially now that her long-term boyfriend has finally proposed. So when a shocking discovery leads Bonnie to end her engagement, she decides to close the book on love. But the plot thickens when a brand-new character enters the scene – and quickens Bonnie’s heart.

With his brilliant blue eyes, sexy accent, and irresistible charm, Theo Wharton is like a romantic hero straight out of a Jane Austen novel. When fate places Bonnie in England for a summer – conveniently close to Theo – she realizes a hot friends-with-benefits fling is exactly what she needs to start a fresh chapter. Just as Bonnie begins to believe she’s falling in love, an eye-opening revelation into Theo’s life makes Bonnie feel like she’s wandered into one of her favorite books. Will Bonnie have the courage to risk her heart and turn the page with the dashing Brit to find her true happy ending after all?

BlueSeal’s Review Of Smitten By The Brit

Smitten by the Brit is the 2nd book in Melonie Johnson’s A Sometimes in Love Novel series. Getting Hot with the Scot, Melonie’s debut book, was the first in the series and was selected as an Amazon Best Book of the Month in Romance for May! Each book is a stand-alone with characters that bleed over. I have not read, but I will, Getting Hot with the Scot, and picked up Smitten by the Brit and didn’t miss a beat. Grab your glass of wine or cocktail, and let’s chat about Smitten by the Brit.

Bonnie has been dating the same guys since middle school. Only last year did he, Gabe, finally put a ring on it but they have yet to set a date. Gabe is working VERY hard with his dissertation adviser to finish his degree and become Dr. Gabriel Shaughnessey. If only he would work as hard on his relationship with Bonnie as he did with the one he had with his adviser’s assistant. After catching Gabe in the act, on her grandmother’s hand-made quilt, Bonnie takes the job of a lifetime…a summer position at Cambridge in England close to Theo, the charming Brit whose dimples turn her knees to water and caused emotions to swirl through her every time he caught her eye.

Theo, the sexy Brit, met Bonnie last year while she was touring Europe with friends. Their chemistry was automatic but she was taken. He has dreamed about the beautiful red-head ever since. Now she was free, and his fantasy had come to life. However, Theo has a heavy burden to bear as the acting head of the Wharton family and the heir to the Emberton title. He had duties to fulfill like avoiding bankruptcy. Eventually, he would have to marry an heiress with deep pockets to keep the Wharton estate floating or convince his mother that there were other ways to do so. Theo only loves one person but she runs away just as he was about to propose leaving him confused and heartbroken.

This book does not read like a book written by a newbie author. The characters are well developed with deep feelings and emotions. They even have lovable flaws that make you want to fix them or smack them in the back of the head. I went back and forth on that one but ended up thinking that maybe smacking them in the back of the head would fix them. I can’t wait to read other books by Melonie Johnson and think that she is an author that you will want to watch. I happily give Smitten by the Brit 5 out of 5 propellers.
