On the Chase

Injured in the line of duty,
His orders are simple:
Stay alive.
But when a frightened woman bursts into his life, Hugh and his K9 companion have no choice but to risk everything to keep her safe.

The sole witness to a horrific crime, Kaylee Ramay flees to the Colorado Rockies to start a new life. There she becomes Grace, a dog kennel employee desperately trying to avoid attention-especially from dangerously attractive K9 Officer Hugh Murdoch.

Because Hugh is tall, dark…and nothing but trouble.

Hugh is anxious to get back in the field after an act of heroism left him warming the bench.
Until then, he and his K9 partner Lexi spend their hours teasing the town’s mysterious newcomer. But when their simmering attraction is nearly cut short by a sniper’s bullet, Hugh’s mystery woman must come clean about the secrets she keeps…

Or both of them will pay the price.

Other Books in the Rocky Mountain K9 Unit series

Run to Ground: Amazon / Survive the Night: Amazon / Through the Fire: Amazon

Fly Girl’s Review:

This is book two in the rocky mountain k9 unit series. I reviewed the first book Run to Ground several months back. I’ve been slowly listening to them on audio book and am loving the narrator who gives you the feeling of a fireside story being told. I love the romance between Grace and Hugh in this one. We got a peak into Hugh in book one and he is just the suspicious pessimist in the group of k9 handlers. He is so suspicious of grace, and rightly so, but she is great at the question dodge. I love the banter katie puts together between these two. There is a lot of fear on both sides of the table and the traumatic experience grace has before coming to their small town is no laughing matter. I’m so shocked that so many people try to start over in such a small town.

The mystery in this one builds up so you know in the last two books we are going to get an ear full of what ticks under this supposedly sleepy little mountain town. Is it drugs, murder, or plain old fashioned mob. I can’t wait to find out. Katie is leading us on a merry chase to the end i’m sure. I’m giving this a 4 of 5 because it left me wanting more. The mystery just keeps building.

Have to say this series gets better and better as it goes. Each book is carrying on the underlying story, but the romance is stand alone. So definitely feel like you can start this series anywhere, but if you are a die hard fan, read from the beginning. I’m more intrigued by the setup in this one than even the first, so i will keep reading the series even though it is all out already.

A graduate of the Police Academy, Katie received her ice-rescue certification and can attest that the reservoirs in the Colorado mountains really are that cold. A fan of anything that makes her feel like a bad-ass, she has trained in Krav Maga, boxing and gymnastics, has lived in an off-grid, solar- and wind-powered house in the Rocky Mountains, rides horses, trains dogs, cross-country skis and travels to warm places to scuba dive. In addition to her romantic suspense books, she also writes spicier romances under the pen name Katie Allen.
