In only six weeks, Isla Ramsey is due to marry Henry Northrup, the sixth Earl of Sydney. But she remains haunted by memories of the dashing Hugh Courtney, the Marquess Pierce. The handsome aristocrat had hinted at forever and then tossed her aside, leaving Isla with few viable options. Now, as she awaits her new fiancé’s arrival from London, she rides her horse past Hugh’s estate at Hazelwood every day, pining for a man who was never truly hers.
Hugh Courtney may have left Isla’s life, but he can’t erase her from his thoughts. When he rescues her from a sudden snowstorm, they are forced to take shelter together at his private estate. In such close quarters there is no escaping each other. Yet no man wants a reckless wifeâor a woman promised to another. As fate draws Isla further into his world, Hugh vows to keep her out of his bedchamber. However, some vows are meant to be broken.
Fly Girl’s Review:
This is a first for me. I chose this book based on the blurb about Isla and Hugh’s romance. But what we get is also the Earl of Sydney’s romance. So basically it’s a two for the price of one. However I was supremely disappointed that Anna would write a M/M romance but not list anything about it in the blurb. I feel a little misled in that respect. I probably wouldn’t have picked it up because that isn’t really my thing. I did read through the whole book to see if a M/M romance would spark my interest, but to tell you the truth it made me want to fall asleep rather than continue reading. I forced myself to get through it so I could hear more about Isla and Hugh’s romance.
Isla and Hugh’s story alone was very good. It had the heat and emotion I was looking for. It was interesting and exciting. I wasn’t even sure how she was going to give these two a HEA, but somehow she pulled it out in the end and everyone gets what they need except Lady Juliana. I’m sure Anna will figure out how to bring us her story though. I’ve read a lot of her other books and loved all of them. So even though I’m only giving this a 3.5, it is in no way a reflection of how much I love her writing, I just didn’t care of this story.

Anna is from Maine, and attended college on the east coast. Being a practical girl, Anna chose to major in English literature at Wheaton College, then went on to get a Masterâs degree at the University of Maine in, yes, you guessed itâEnglish literature.
Annaâs reading, writing and fondling led to an enduring passion for stories about love, life, and romance. Anna writes sassy, steamy Regency historical romance, often with garters, cleavage-baring gowns and riding crops. History is sexier than you think, Gentle Reader.
Anna lives near Portland, OR, where people are delightful and weird and love to read. She teaches writing and lives with her husband, two children, a variety of spoiled pets, and shelves full of books.
