First Up the Interview

received_200007784253489.jpeg

Check out my interview with Eve Langlais.  We met up at Shameless 2018 in Orlando, Florida a few weeks ago.  She was gracious enough to give me some of her time during a very busy weekend.  I asked her about her writing, how she puts out so many books each year, her idea for the Welcome to Hell series (of which I loved A Demon and His Witch), her alter ego, and where her Bad Boy Inc series is headed.  So there is lots of great stuff in this interview.  Enjoy it here. We were in the main signing area, so the audio may be a little bit rough.

I’m also reviewing the three books she’s recently released in her Gypsy Moth romance.  It’s produced under the In The Stars Romance line and are novellas.  I listened to the audio versions and was lucky to be able to binge listen.  I’m giving the start of this series a 4.5 of 5 cause the romances are funny, heartwarming, and there are no cliffhangers.

First Mate's Accidental WifeFirst Mate’s Accidental Wife

Amazon / Audible / iBooks / B&N / Nook

It was supposed to be a simple mission. Locate a kidnapper’s vessel. Rescue the woman. Return her home. Collect a reward.
Instead, the First Mate of the Gypsy Moth finds himself married to a galactic crime lord’s daughter and fighting off those that would make her a widow.

Busy watching his back, while keeping her safe, Damon misses the deadliest attack of all. The one on his heart. She’s taken it, and he’s got to decide whether giving up his freedom is worth the price of love.

Fly Girl’s Review:

This is the space odyssey romance I’ve read by Eve, but as usual I’m glad I started this series.  She’s released the first three books in quick succession so it was easy to binge listen to them.  I listened the audio versions and they were short novellas.  You won’t miss the fact that they aren’t long epic novels.  She gives you the HEA you expect and with lots of juicy details.

The first book is a great introduction to the Gypsy Moth crew, ship, and missions.  I really like how the marriage of convenience comes about.  This one is full of laughs as they try to maneuver themselves out of harms way.  It seems he wasn’t the spouse her father wanted for her, so they get to fight on two fronts–her father and the groom she was stolen from.  Don’t get too cozy in the story though because there’s a twist, even I barely saw coming.   Their romance finally becomes real when he realizes he’s about to lose her.  That makes the reunion all the better.  I can’t wait to see what the Princess has planned for him and his future with the Gypsy Moth.  Look out cause I know she’s got plans.  I’m giving this one 4.5 of 5.  It’s a cute story.

The Cyborg's StowawayThe Cyborg’s Stowaway

Amazon / Audible / iBooks / B&N / Nook

Can a cyborg let go of the wife he lost and make a stowaway his bride?

There’s a problem on the Gypsy Moth. Craig ‘Crank’ Abrams has found a stowaway. A tiny one that tucks easily under his chin with the biggest damned eyes he’s ever seen—and a way of tugging at a mechanical heart he thought broken.

Ghwenn has secrets, which is why she’s on the run and hiding. When her enemies catch up to her, she finds an unlikely hero in the cyborg that refuses to hand her over.

Fly Girl’s Review:

So the Cyborg is just in a really bad mood all the time, so when he’s taken with the stowaway, it’s a bit surprising.  Ghwenn knows how to handle Crank and get him to realize he doesn’t have to be miserable forever and that he is allowed to have a second time around in the romance department.  It takes her a lot of work to convince him though.  Then there is her father.  Who know Eve would pick another Princess to add to the mix.  However she isn’t as ambitious as the first one.  She just wants a quiet life with man she can love.  And, the best part is Craig can’t be manipulated by her telepathy powers, so she knows for sure he loves her just the way she is.  I’m also giving this one a 4.5 of 5.

The Captain's Secret Daughter

The Captain’s Secret Daughter

Amazon / Audible / iBooks / B&N / Nook

She betrayed him. His wife. The woman he loved. She fled, and Captain Kobrah Jameson thought himself rid of her until the day she comes back.

And Dara isn’t alone.

Kobrah doesn’t want to believe the child by her side is his daughter. The facts don’t add up, but the genetic testing doesn’t lie.

And apparently his heart hasn’t learned its lesson because this captain is thinking of giving his wife a second chance.
If they don’t get killed first.

Fly Girl’s Review:

The third book continues the legacy of the Gypsy Moth and we get to see how much larger the family tied to this ship is getting.  They have protection ships and have branched out into new fields of work in this one.  That is until the Captain runs into a surprise.  The wife he thought he lost and a daughter.  Instantly he feels protective of his daughter and forcefully brings the mother along too.  It’s over the course of a few weeks that he discovers he can forgive her disappearance and wants the family she presented.  He takes his passion and fights her obstacles to staying with him, one at a time and earning her the trust that he can protect them.

His daughter is no slacker either, she ends up being the funny in a story full of regret and anger.  She also doesn’t help with her mother’s secrets as she somehow gets possessed by the thing they are both running from and it complicates his trouble more.  I love how in this one the parents balance their passion for one another with the care they give to their daughter.  I also like the fight between trusting each other with their problems so they can solve them together.  That is what everyday marriage feels like and I think it is a good representation, I mean if you take space and aliens out of it.  I’m also giving this a 4.5 of 5.  This series is a must read if you like space odyssey’s.  The audio is very well done too.

A Demon and His Witch

Here is one of the other books we talk about in the interview.  I gave this one a 5 of 5 and added it to my TOP 10 list of books I’ve read this year.  Check out the full review here.

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller Eve Langlais is a Canadian author who loves to write hot romance. She likes to blame her twisted imagination for her sarcastic sense of humor which tends to heavily influence her stories. She enjoys writing about strong alpha males, that need the right woman to temper their wild side–and unleash the lover. She loves to write, and while she might not always know what her mind is going to come up with next, she does promise it will be fun, probably humorous and most of all romantic, because she believes in a happily ever after.
