Book one in the much acclaimed Magdalene series by Kristen Ashley!

The WillEarly in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.

While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love.

But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it.

Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.

Fly Girl’s Review:

We started reading all of the books that had been optioned for Passionflix movies, and this is one of those many books.  It’s taking much longer than all of us expected for the movies to be made…Who knew Hollywood glamour didn’t happen overnight.  With that said, I read this like right when it got optioned and really didn’t want to wait any longer to tell you all about it.  We have no idea when this one will be made into the movie, but when it does we will do our usual live review after we’ve watched it.  This was not my first Kristen Ashley book, I started with Three Wishes.  I’ll get to that one soon for all of you.  I was seriously hooked after that one.

I had no trouble reading this one for the crew, and I was glad I did.  This story is much different from others we read because it is about an older couple.  By older I mean 40’s, not grandma and grandpa.  But honestly most of our books are about people in their 20’s or early 30’s at the oldest, so it was a surprise for me listening to this one.  That’s the other part, I listened on Audible and was glad I did.  It was a lighthearted story about a woman who’s had a rough abusive childhood and the only person that cared about her was her grandmother.  So her grandmother sets her up from beyond the grave with a man who came into her life when she needed to find a purpose.  The man she sets her up with gets all of the lowdown on Josephine, but she doesn’t get any info on Jake so it makes for an awkward relationship and until Josephine comes to the realization her grandmother was actually doing her a favor she doesn’t come to terms with her love for Jake.

With all that said, Kristen builds the relationship slowly and addresses everyone involved, from kids to ex’s.  It makes for a fun look into an older relationship inept persons navigation of the field of love and a man’s desire to finally make a relationship work and is willing to put in the work.  Just a tip, Jake seems to good to be true and too perfect, but remember he’s had a lot of time to think about this relationship and knows Josephine almost as well as she knows herself.  So cut him some slack.  If you want a softer side to Kristen Ashley, this is the book for you.  Pick it up today.  I’m giving it a 4 of 5 because she always seems to say the right thing with the kids and he is a little too perfect for me.  But it is a good story.  You all let the crew know what you think if you’ve read it.  We’d love to hear from our passengers.
