**Can be read as a stand-alone***
I’ve never believed in fairy tales. Sure, I was raised with Disney movies and princess stories, but I wasn’t stupid enough to fall for them. The can’t-eat, can’t-sleep kind of love doesn’t exist. And that’s a fact.
My relationship is realistic. Convenient. Solid. I thought I was happy.
And then I met him.
My new neighbor.
The guy who’s starting to make me question everything. Making me wonder if maybe, just maybe, I could be wrong.
I’ve never been afraid to go after what I want. After all, my job is solely based on seeing opportunities and capitalizing on them.
And then I met my new neighbor.
Our chemistry is off the charts, our banter is on point, and her body is out of this world.
So why does she turn to ice as soon as I mention a date? Even when her eyes linger longer than necessary?
She’s hiding something.
And I’m going to find out what it is.
**This is not a cheating book and has a HEA**
Rhett is the fourth book in Kelsie Rae’s Sweetheart Series. The series includes Liv, Breezy, Jude (check out my review on August 14th), Rhett, and Luke (which comes out in late 2018). These are standalone books but once you read one, you will want to read them all! I know that I do.
Rhett has a weakness for Armani suits and Neiman Marcus loafers…an image, quite like that of a GQ model, which he displays with absolute precision. However, outside of the business world, he’s happy in jeans, t-shirts, and his tiny apartment just blocks from Central Park where he erases the stress of the day with long runs. Did I mention that he also has a sweet tooth? He is very fortunate that Get Baked, a small local bakery, is just around the corner because the cronuts…well they are addicting. Rhett’s addicted to more than Indie Peterson’s baked goods….her innocent smiles, her indigo eyes, her tiny earlobes. He’s a goner! BUT, she’s taken and he doesn’t cheat on or with anyone.
Indie Peterson lives a stable, happy life. Even with the early mornings and weekends, Indie loves owning her bakery, Get Baked. There is just something about mixing flour, eggs, sugar, and butter to create a masterpiece. Her goal is to sprinkle something sweet into everyone’s day…one morsel at a time. Indie and her boyfriend, Tony, have been together since high school. They have a cute apartment just a few blocks from the bakery and Central Park but something is off. They are off. They’ve been off for the past eight years. Indie is tired. Tired of being ignored. Tired of Tony’s workaholic habits. Tired of sleeping alone. Tired of cancelled plans. Tired of being taken for granted. Tired of fighting. Is that all there is to love? Shouldn’t you enjoy the company of the person that you love? How much longer can Indie do this? One day, sunshine knocks on her door in the form of her new neighbor, Rhett, and Indie catches a glimpse of what she’s been missing, chemistry. As much as Indie wants to deny it chemistry is chemistry and they have it spades.
Kelsie Rae has done it again! She has written a beautiful love story that I could not stop reading. I’ve actually read it twice now and the second time around was just as good as the first. Her character development is wonderful and you will love to hate Tony although he redeems himself a little bit at the end. Don’t worry, I’m not spoiling anything. Rhett is a sweetheart, a protector, a shoulder to cry on, and a dog lover. What more could you want? And Indie, well she’s Indie…the girl next door with a love for beaches and baking.

Kelsie prides herself on writing straight from her own heart, which is how she fell into sweet contemporary romance. She’s a sucker for a love story with all the feels. When she’s not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, playing with her “monsters”.
She adores chocolate, photography, baking, chick flicks, and running. And now that she’s actively pursuing her writing dreams, she’s set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not eat an entire batch of cookies in one sitting.
