…from his cheating fiancée
…from his band
…from his life in the spotlight
Charlotte Clark is devoted to her work

…to get a broken man back on his feet
When Charlotte Clark offers to pay for Julian Grayson’s coffee, the world-famous drummer assumes she wants something from him. But Charlotte has no idea who he is, and Julian can’t resist keeping up the charade—being incognito is a novelty and a relief. He’ll have to tell her…eventually. But as Charlotte cheerfully undertakes to transform his life, Julian realizes there’s something about her that gives him what he hasn’t felt in years: hope.

Fly Girl’s Review:
This is the second book in the Band on the Run series I’ve read and I’m, again, not disappointed. As usual Samantha delivers a beautiful HEA with lots of passion and internal growth for her characters. I will warn, this is a very emotional read. Both characters have a lot of things to work out. One needs to let up on the need to fix everything while one needs to grow up an realize you have to face your issues and deal with them rather than letting them deal with you. It takes Julian a bit to figure that one out, so expect a broody personality in the beginning of the book. He also discredits his friends quite a bit.
Her other books have dealt with much harder issues like alcohol abuse, while this one is really about regular issues people tend to deal with like figuring out how to get out of a toxic relationship, learning to trust again, maintaining your mental health. Things like that. This brings the band back to reality and makes us look at them like real people and not Rock icons. I also loved that we got to hear a lot more about the stories of the other members and how much they’ve changed as well as a little bit of an update about some of the Shaughnessy Brothers’ stories.
A couple of scenes I liked was actually the first one of the band getting together and Dylan asks a pointed question about Charlotte and Julian punches him. Interesting to note, Dylan didn’t get upset, just brushed it off and laughed. Those are some friends for you. I also love how excited Charlotte got about the press conference. It show a bit of star struck behavior that we knew Charlotte had, but hid very well.
I’m interested to see who’s story she tells next. It would be nice to see Mick get a happily ever after, but maybe this will be the end of the Band on the Run. I know this is part of a series, but you can read it as a stand alone. I think it flows better if you read the whole series, so the links are provided below.
