Book 3 in the Love Over Duty series
Ex- Navy SEAL Cabe Moss can disappear in plain sight. He sees links in everything, filing every little detail away for future reference as he fades further into the background. He can remember the color of an assailant’s eyes, the face of his first kill, and the last time he kissed his fiancée (two years, one month, eleven days, and eight hours ago, the day before she left for Afghanistan, and thanks to a roadside IED, never came back). Which is why the signs are telling him that the recent cases he has worked on with his brothers at Eagle Securities are not only connected, but the tip of the iceberg. He knows money is being laundered. The question is how?
F.B.I. Special Agent Amy Murray knows there are thirty-nine stairs up to her office, nineteen rows of roof tiles on the building opposite her apartment, and that the reason she has no student debt is because she counted card in black jack though college. Growing up in Las Vegas with a World Series of Poker champion for a father, it was to be expected. So when the chance arises to act as a dealer in a casino suspected of allowing money laundering on its premises, Amy takes the job. But it lands her her straight into the path of the deadly handsome warrior Cabe. As the two work together, their explosive attraction begins to lead to something deeper. But before risking their lives, he needs to risk his heart…

Fly Girl’s Review:
Scarlett Cole gives us a good look into a military romance and what it takes to make one work. From having been there I can say she did a good job conveying how hard it is when loved ones go away for long periods of time and work in dangerous jobs. There is always the feeling they won’t come back and this romance addresses how to handle that and how to come back from loss as well.
The romance is hot and sweet all at the same time. Both are dealing with some tough issues and trying to figure out how to make their relationship work, and if it is even worth the effort. She makes her characters stay honest with one another and face their feelings as well as each other which from my opinion is the best way to build a strong lasting relationship.
I’ve been together with my hubby for 20 years and I think it is why we’ve lasted this long. Trust is hard to come by, but when you have it, hang on to it. With my anniversary just around the corner, this one was a little poignant for me to read. I really loved it though.
There isn’t a bad thing to say about this book, so obviously it’s a 5 of 5 propeller read for me. I do believe this one will stay with me for a long time. The suspense certainly had me on the edge of my seat several times and dying to continue reading it. It will be interesting to see who’s story if anyone’s she does next. This is truly a stand alone. She has developed the story line enough in the beginning, that you don’t need to know the specifics of the other two books. Although I’m guessing if this one is this good, the other two are just as well done. One of them is an Introvert story that sounds good.
