I have to make the pain stop.

I want to feel alive, and I do when I’m drinking and partying the way I should have when I was a teen. Instead, back then, I was preparing to become the Whiskey Princess, a role assigned to me from birth.

A lady never drinks to the point of blacking out, nor does she go home with men she meets in bars. But I went home with him…Jackson.

He was more than just a one-night stand, but I learned that a wee bit late and he was gone. Or so I thought.

For when I return home, Jackson is there, and he finds out very quickly who I am.

Problem is, I’m not sure that I’ve ever known who I really am.

I can tell by looking into her blue depths that she’s absolute trouble, but I have to have her. It’s only for one night. Some fun, and I’ll be on my way. My time here is done, and I’m ready to move on to my next adventure.

What I don’t realize at the time is that she is my next adventure.

Lena excites me. She blows my mind. And her brogue? It has me in knots. I don’t even care about the rumors that surround her.

She’s hurting. I want to help her, but then my time is up.

Can I leave her?

I have to leave. I have no choice.

But I love her.

Fly Girl’s Review:

As you’ve all seen this has been a busy week for me.  I just finished this one up last night and spent the morning getting ready for my day job trying to figure out what I was going to put in the review.

Lena and Jackson have an instant attraction that pulls them together.  They take that attraction and build something more.  They are both able to actually see one another as people and not money or a hippie or a princess.  This helps them define each other’s issues holding them back in their lives and helps them discover who they really are.  They teach each other how to own their happiness and how, when someone hurts you, you, to take the control back and quit being the victim.  This is one of the reasons why I wanted to read this novel.  It isn’t often done where the author shows you how to take the control back.  Usually it is all about forgiveness.  Toni did that very well in this novel.

A couple of things I really liked about this story and the way she wrote it, other than the above mentioned, is she really got the accent on the paper.  It was great because as I was reading it, I could hear the words spoken.  She also captured the landscape well, at least from my trip to Ireland, it was described as I remember it.  On top of all that, I really fell for Jackson.  I even liked him when he was a hypocrite.  Sometimes you know what you need to do, but finding the strength to do it is harder to achieve.

I loved the idea of a girl trying to find herself and rebelling against everything she’d been taught to do it.  Only this story although well written, didn’t fill that hole I was looking at.  There isn’t anything I can put my finger on.  The writing was good, the struggle was there, the sex was definitely there, even in some positions I hadn’t read in a long time. This feeling I have that it didn’t satisfy is why I have to give it 4 propellers.  Unfortunately I don’t think this is one I’ll be remembering in a month.  Toni, I’m sorry I can’t put my finger on it to help you, I really wish I could.  I’m putting your name on my TBR pile so I can read another one of your stories, maybe that will be a little more satisfying.

4 of 5 Propellers

My name is Toni Aleo and I’m a total dork.
I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.
I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!
When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.
I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life… probably Belle.
… and did I mention I love hockey?
