She is Jazmine Evenstar, the last heir to the sovereign Evenstar Dynasty.
Thrust into the world of wealth and privilege in which the impossibly beautiful and equally cruel Dynasty heirs reside, Jazmine is forced to maneuver the tangled web that holds the Dynasties together. Against the backdrop of breathtaking star filled nights, sweeping coastlines, grand marble halls and decadent palaces, Jazmine tries to find her place in this beautiful new world while fighting not to lose herself in the process.
But the fairy tale quickly unravels.
Half human and the illegitimate daughter of the late suicide King of Eden, the other Dynasty heirs make it clear that Jazmine does not belong in their world. Raphael St. Tristan, heir to the rival sovereign St. Tristan Dynasty and next in line to the throne of Eden, the guy with the face of an angel but who is as wicked as the devil himself, promises to break her.
Jazmine quickly learns that the beauty of Eden is nothing but a deception–as she uncovers the secrets festering at the heart of it. But can she disentangle herself from the web of deception and intrigue that the Dynasty heirs have spun? Can she stop herself from falling into Raphael St. Tristan’s trap before he can fulfil his promise to shatter her completely? Or are those stories about Eden true after all and will she be foolish enough to taste the forbidden fruit that is Eden itself?
SECRET HEIR is the first book of the all new DYNASTY trilogy. A loose adaption of Romeo and Juliet but with a fantastical twist, this saga of feuding Dynasties, forbidden love, betrayal, royal scandals and power struggles for the crown promises to ensnare, captivate and shatter then leave readers clawing for more.

Fly Girl’s Review:
So we were approached by MJ Prince through the blog to review this book. We rarely turn those requests down, so I picked this one since it looked to be Young Adult Fantasy which is my genre. After reading this one, I’m so glad fantasy is my passion. This one is super good and if you love fantasy, you have to check it out. I would not list this as Young Adult, because there are a lot of sex scenes and language in it. I would put it in the New Adult area.
It starts off fast and just keeps going. It begins on modern day Earth and has a feisty yet unapproachable teen fighting to not get swallowed up by the evil in the foster care system and to make her own way for her future. You can tell right off this one is going to be a strong female character with lots of issues based on her length of time in foster care. The old man, her Grandfather, that takes her to Eden just begins the character after character addition that MJ hooks you up with. All the characters are dynamic, full of life, and create a full visual to the world of Eden.
I love the way MJ describes the feelings and emotions of each character in the dramatic scenes that follow. It’s like you are in their head trying to figure it all out. I have to say the editing in this book is really good. There are no slow spots or areas that make you wonder why she put that scene there. The story moves quickly and keeps you on the edge of your seat from a hate filled relationship between Jazmine and Raph to a love filled sexual one that keeps you guessing as to who or what will be pulling at them next. It is a roller-coaster of emotions as Jazmine is continually pulled by Raph’s friends, both families, and her friends.
I didn’t pick up on the Romeo and Juliet portion of the story (I think that develops a lot more in book two), but about a third of the way in, I was wondering if it was Twilight fan fiction because of the intense love between Jazmine and Raph, but the reasons for the intense love reveal themselves a little later which makes sense. I was grateful it wasn’t fan fiction, because you all know my abhorrence for Vampires, all things Twilight, and Zombies. The love at first sight, nothing can stand in my way, story in Twilight, for a teenager is so unrealistic, and I think it gives bad ideas to our up and coming young adult ladies to believe in that. Love is hard and takes work, and trust is an even harder subject.
Suffice it to say MJ surprised me and I’m glad I got to read her novel. For a newbie to the literary world, it was a successful mission and I’m giving it a 5 of 5 propellers and simply can’t wait for book two to come out. Please make it soon. MJ, I’d love to read the next one and I think I’m addicted. Also, give your editor/editors a great big hug, they did an awesome job.
