Combust, an all new sexy and emotional standalone by K. Bromberg is NOW AVAILABLE!
From New York Times Bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes the second standalone book in the Everyday Heroes series. Just how hot will firefighter Grady Malone turn up the heat?
Songwriter Dylan McCoy has been burned.
By her boyfriend she found in her bed . . . with someone else.
By the contract she signed that obligates her to work with him until the songs for his new album are complete.
By her agent when she asked Dylan to keep their breakup on the down-low.
When she finds herself in Sunnyville, she refuses to let her new roommate burn her too. Still . . . a rebound has never looked so good.
That’s her first thought when she sees firefighter Grady Malone.
Sexy. Charismatic. Unapologetic. He’s a man who carries his own scars—the ones on his back, the survivor’s guilt on his soul, and the fear in his heart.
When an unexpected visitor puts their roommate status to the test, will their undeniable attraction burn out, or will they both take a chance and play with fire?

******************NICUnurse’s Review of Combust by K. Bromberg******************
Combust is the second book in the Everyday Heroes series by K. Bromberg. Each one is a standalone novel, so if you haven’t read Cuffed, you’ll still be able to follow the story and characters just fine.
Combust is Dylan and Grady’s story. Grady is a hot firefighter (of course!) who has suffered an unimaginable loss. He’s struggling with guilt and shame, as well as some PTSD issues. Dylan is a songwriter who found her uber famous (and infamous) boyfriend in bed with another woman. She’s super talented but quite insecure about her body and her self-esteem is pretty low thanks to her crappy boyfriend and others in the industry. They meet when Dylan decides it’s best to get away from the home she shared with said crappy boyfriend so she doesn’t make the disasterous decision to take him back. She tells her brother her plans and he phones his good friend, Grady, who just happens to have a room available for her to crash in while she’s working on the next album.
I LOVED Dylan. LOVED HER! My heart ached for her from page one. But as the story progressed and her insecurities were revealed, I FELT for her. I could absolutely identify with her on all her issues. And as her relationship with Grady progressed, I was awed by how well she understood how to handle his issues, even though other people in his life that were much closer to him could. And I loved that Grady literally saw none of her body’s “flaws” as she called them. To him, she was simply beautiful.
Grady broke my heart. PTSD and survivor’s guilt is no laughing matter. My heart ached for him, as well. He lost so much and was struggling so hard to accept it all and move on. My favorite part of this book was one of the conversations he had with his father. They are talking about fear and his father tells him fear has two meanings: Forget everything and run, or Face everything and rise. So profound. Not just for Grady, but for us all. We can let fear win, or we can do it afraid and overcome. However, on the funny side…my favorite part is all the firemen cheesy pickup lines!
NICUnurse’s Rating: I have to give this book 4.75 propellers. While it’s most definitely a sexy book, it also tackle’s some really big issues. And the author, in my humble opinion, tackles them with grace, maturity, and strength in these two main characters. The story kept me up way past my bedtime, too!
Looking forward to Grayson’s book!!
