Alpha's MateShe can’t remember her past. He wants to be her future.

Previously published in the anthology Hunger, the paranormal queen of steam and sass pulls out all the stops in The Alpha’s Mate, a sexy, funny short story from New York Times bestselling author Eve Langlais.

Villains aren’t supposed to rescue damsels, and pack alphas are known to have complete control of their wolf. But when Fabian saves a certain lady from drowning, everything he knows gets tossed away and only one thing becomes clear: she’s his mate—and someone wants to kill her. Protecting her, though, is only part of his problem. He also has to convince her she belongs to him. In her words, “Hell no.”

When she flees, little does she realize this wolf loves to chase. And when he catches the woman he wants? She’ll become the Alpha’s Mate.

Fly Girl’s Review:

I got my hands on another Eve Langlais early release…Well, not quite.  This one actually released in an anthology a little while ago and is now being released on it’s own.  It deserves it’s own release party though.  Although too short in my opinion it delivered on all the things I love from Eve; sex, romance, suspense, and a dash of comedy.

Fabian is a little older than many of Eve’s other heroes, but being an Alpha sometimes takes time to build the reputation that Fabian certainly deserves as the Alpha Wolf.  When he happens upon a woman with no memory, he is truly in a quagmire of deep self reflection as his wolf decides she’s the one.  Fabian doesn’t go down without a fight against his wolf nature, but he does go down faster than “Vixen.”  I don’t want to give any spoilers, so we’ll just use Fabian’s nickname for our heroine.

Vixen on the other hand fights mother nature like she’s caught in a leg trap.  Oh, and she loves Fido references that get the hackles up on Fabian.  Her personality is super evident in how she handles Fabian.  She is a take charge, no nonsense kind of heroine and when you discover her full story at the end, it is right on track with how you see her.  Since it’s a short story, losing her memory allows her to drop her inhibitions and just let nature takes its course in their relationship building.

The ending delves into the next story in the series, which I might add sounds good, funny, and steamy as well.  So pick this one up and delve into the Their Furever Mates series for a little romantic crush.  I’m giving this a 4 of 5 propellers because I’d have liked it to be a little longer and the ending was a little rushed, although not lacking in details.  I’m hoping we get more of the back story on “Vixen’s” family in the next novel.  I’ll definitely be looking for it, but it looks like there may be a significant wait as she doesn’t have the next installment listed on her site.

Eve, I like this series as much as the A Lion’s Pride series and can’t wait to see more.  Thanks for letting me have an early read.
