Judith Came for a visit
T: Good Morning Judith thanks for joining me this morning. I hope the hot tea is strong enough?
It’s wonderful, thank you!
T: I promise for this set of questions I’m going to keep things fun and light (well light for me) so let’s get started.
Okay, sounds like a plan!
T: Is it hard living in the Midwest and being in the Lifestyle?
Well, while things have opened up ‘a little’ since FSOG came out and made the thought of BDSM slightly more mainstream in general, individuals are still staying in their leather closet. It’s just a lot more socially conservative here and the consequences of losing your job, your family and in some cases, even the custody of your children is still very real.
T: You’ve been in the Lifestyle for about 16 yrs what got you interested in it?
To be honest, I’ve always been interested in the idea of restraint, even thought I may not have known exactly what it was that intrigued me. In the mid to late 90’s, when I got on the Internet and discovered groups and IRC chatrooms with like-minded individuals, that’s when I found out there were people like me and that just amazed me… and down the rabbit hole I went.
T: How often do you teach classes in BDSM?
When I was heavily involved in the groups here in Kansas, it was quite often. I taught a general newbie class about the basics of BDSM and Playroom etiquette. I also taught a class on fireplay, firecupping and also helped to arrange other people to teach classes for our local group as well. As of 2015, me and my partner have been busy with other things in our lives and since we moved to a smaller community a few months ago, our participation has been less.
T: In 2015 you published an anthology but when did you start writing? Do we see all your previous work in Pretty When You Cry?
I’ve been writing since I was a child, it started seriously when I was a teenager and again when I was a college student, writing for the college newspaper. All my erotica has been published somewhere, either in my releases or in other anthologies, like Riverdale Ave Press’ “The First Annual Geeky Kink Anthoogy”.
T: How often do you hear begging since you “particularly enjoy it”?
As often as I can. 😉
T: What do you consider body positive heroines?
Someone who regards their bodies with appreciation. Someone who has accepted themselves as they are. They don’t seek approval or wish to be anything else, but themselves. And although, they may endeavor to better themselves with diet and exercise for health reasons, they do it because they love and want to take care of themselves. Not out of some desperate need to be like somebody else.
T: What got you started doing masturbation Monday’s on Facebook? For those that don’t know what I’m talking about can you explain?
I wanted to do some blog hops to help promote my newest book, “Smart As A Whip”, so I got involved in Masturbation Monday, as well as WIP it up Wednesday and Saturday Spankings. They basically all work the same. An author signs up to be a part of that week’s hop and then writes a post for it. They publish it on the appointed day and always have a link on the post that goes back to the central blog hop website, that way readers can ‘hop’ from blog to blog, reading with exciting things the authors want to share.
T: Who are some of the authors you follow religiously?
I love Lawrence Block, a very well-regarded mystery writer. I love Douglas Adams and re-read his books when I get a chance. I also love erotica authors, Maren Smith, Alta Hensley and Tabitha Black.
T: If you could be in a room with anyone past or present and have a bit of kinky fun and general naughtiness who might be there with you?
Any subjects of Ruebenesque paintings would more than welcome to join me.
T: You read mysteries yet you write BDSM/erotica. Why did you go this route?
Maren Smith, in addition to being a wonderful spanking/erotica/romance writer, is also a local friend. I asked her if there were any publisher or audience for these erotic short stories, I had written. She helped me a great deal and guided me to self publish on Amazon and from there the people at Blushing showed an interest in my work and off I went.
T: What music do you listen too? Does it help you write?
I listen to ALL kinds of music, I LOVE my Spotify! Lol I listen to rock, pop, classical, country and some rap. Yesterday I listened to reggae versions of Radiohead and Pink Floyd songs, before that I’ve listened to jazz standards and before that, DJ Spooky. I also love the Beatles AND the Monkees. Sooo, I’m all over the place.. lol
T: What comes next?
Right now, I’m working on the next Kimber Cassidy mystery, as a follow-up to “Smart As A Whip” and I’ve also been doing some preliminary work on a YA mystery that I’m thinking of doing under my real name.
T: Well Judith that’s all I have for you today? Until next time thanks again for joining me, now get back to work and write your next book.
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed being here. 🙂
