Review
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
So, to begin, I should divulge that I’ve been reading this author’s books from her very first book, “Wanted.” And while I enjoyed the story lines in the first couple of books, I felt that her character development was a little lacking and that the amount of profanity was excessive. With that said… I kept reading and she just kept improving! And she did not disappoint with this newest release. This is truly a romance novel so if you’re looking for some suspense, it’s not really here. Mrs. Elliot delves into a very emotional topic in this novel.
As a wife and a mother, it’s truly my biggest fear. So I was a bit nervous to read the story. While there are some intense emotional scenes and some tears were shed, I felt she approached this in a caring, yet realistic, way. I know this author is also a wife and mother so I can only imagine how difficult this story was to tell. Grief is intensely personal and there is no right or wrong. If you don’t get this, you might get upset at how the main character handles it, but I would remind you that this is a work of fiction and this author’s story to tell. There was a lot more depth to characters in this book and I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed watching her grow and develop as an author.
Harmony starts off a strong character and despite the circumstances, she stays strong. Even when she doesn’t think she’s being strong. Preston is just the right mix of strong and understanding to come along beside her and stand with her, even when she doesn’t think she can handle their relationship.
The story had my attention from the beginning and kept my attention all the way to the end. I love a happily ever after so I was happy to see this end in such a way that you can see that for the main characters.
Overall I’d give this 4.5 stars. (I rarely give 5 stars because even established, long time best-selling authors improve on their works as they continue to publish.)
From New York Times bestselling author Kelly Elliott comes the gut-wrenching story of a love that transcends all odds—and transforms the deepest pain into the brightest hope.
Firefighter and first responder Preston Ward thought he had grown immune to the job’s emotional burns. But when he goes out on a particularly tragic call, he realizes that some scenes are too devastating to forget. And yet, if it weren’t for that terrible night, he never would have met the woman who makes him want to risk his heart.
More than once, Harmony Banks has watched her perfectly ordered world torn apart by fate. Now she’s finding out that what she lost wasn’t as perfect as she thought—and it’s tearing her apart. The only thing that keeps her going is the kindness of a stranger: the firefighter who saved her life the night everything changed.
Preston isn’t like the men who have come before. For one thing, he’s far more genuine. And the love Harmony feels growing between them is almost too intense for her wounded soul. But if she and Preston can push past heartbreak, they’ll find that something incredible awaits in each other’s arms.
Advance praise for Searching for Harmony
“Searching for Harmony is a heartwarming story of a woman who suffers an unthinkable tragedy—and finds an unimaginable love. It’s a real charmer!”—USA Today bestselling author Tina Wainscott

EXCERPT 1:
Preston pulled my chair out for me as we sat down. We talked the entire time we ate. He told me about growing up in Boston before his father retired to the country. He had two brothers and a sister. His favorite place to be was at his parents’ country house or on the ocean sailing.
I decided to keep the conversation on Preston and he didn’t seem to mind.
Lori walked over and placed the Nutella and Bananas down in front of us.
“Dig in,” Preston said with a smile.
Chewing on my bottom lip, I asked, “Um . . . is Nutella good?”
Preston’s mouth dropped open as he stared at me.
“You’ve never had Nutella? Like, ever?”
Pressing my lips together so I didn’t giggle, I shook my head.
Preston leaned back in his chair and put his hand over his heart. “I’ve so much to teach you. So much.”
Swallowing hard, I felt my face flush.
Oh, the things I wanted Preston to teach me.
