An Interview with Resident Poet Paulie Dee!!!

Holly Smokes I got Paulie in the Flight!!!

T:  Good Morning Paulie Dee thanks for joining me this morning. I hope the coffee is strong enough?

T: I promise for this set of questions I’m going to keep things fun and light (well light for me) so let’s get started.

Hehehe, ok

T: How much of a culture shock was it moving from New York to North Carolina?

It actually wasn’t too bad because we actually wanted to change location due to us starting a family, the only thing that was a little hard was the lack of Spanish food, but we get our fill when we go back and visit family in NJ>

T: When did you join the writing group that changed your life?

Wow, I’m sorry, but I can’t really remember the date, but I think it was the beginning of 2014 or so

T: How did you go from spectator to writer?

It was early morning, can’t remember what day and I went into the group and they were requesting freestyle poems or something like that and I just wrote something silly about my brain turning or having lard, Hahaha, but that was the trigger because that day when I arrived to work, word just started floating in my brain and I believe I wrote one poem named ties that day.

T: What does your family think about your writing?

At first it was just my mom that knew about my poetry writing and then my aunt, who happens to be a poet as well and they both were and are very supportive, I told my husband about my writing when my poetry book was published and he as well as my son are very supportive

T: Where do you find the pictures that inspire you?

At the beginning of my poetry writing I had a group of fabulous ladies getting pictures for me and even during the time I was writing my poetry book, now it can be myself or Sara my PA that gets them for me, I usually go to Pinterest

T: When do you write?

As for my poetry I write at any time that I feel inspired. Writing my novel I usually write in the afternoon into the night or once hubs and little man are in bed on the weekends

T: What do you do for fun?

Wow, I enjoy surfing the web, reading, now that I am back to reading or writing poetry, or just spending time with little man and on the weekends we always go out somewhere.

T: Do you listen to music when you write?

No, I write not in complete silence (which I love) but with the TV on the background,

T: If you could meet one poet past or present who would you meet?

During some research I was doing, I must Maya Angelou, she wrote such beautiful pieces, but I really liked is Phenomenal Woman and Still I Rise

T: Have you collaborated with any other poets?

Yes, I have, just recently I collaborated in T Lee Hunt Warrior Women book, with Elias Raven and I have written poems for Zorha Edwards.

T: What comes next?

Writing my novel In Search of a Muse and God willing my first book signing in New Orleans in Naturally Naughty in Nola 2017

T: Well Paulie that’s all I have for you today? Until next time thanks again for joining me, now get back to work and write your next book.

Yes, ma’am
