Holly Cow Batman

Over the last few days I’m been working on Legacy (like always) but I’m trying to get it ready for two contest and to be sent out. I have a few paragraphs posted on WeBook on the Page to Fame section and it’s not going so bad. I’d post what they are saying but it won’t let me if you follow me on twitter or facebook you can find the links. Most of my work has been at time when Flyboy goes to bed so I can work. He really tries to let me during the day but for some reasons he always has questions for needs me to help with something. Other times he just wants to sit with me and that is difficult when I want to lock myself in the office and have nothing to do with the world. I tried this Saturday with no luck. My phone was turned off and the pups were quite but Flyboy needed me to checkout the additions to the flower bed that he added. Paving stones, he did an awesome job and I’ll post the pictures later. The only problem I couldn’t get work done. But that night when he went to sleep I got work done. I even got some research done for Blood. It needs some work. I changed the name of the town in Legacy, the new name fits like a glove.

On another note a friend of mine has a website www.edensbookshelf.com, check it out. It’s all about Indie publishing. I’ve added her RSS feed to the side and you can find her on twitter too.

One of my new favorite artist has even more music over at soundcloud that has inspired me to write, Shaun Canon as you may remember wrote Live or Die that I think speaks to Legacy his other songs are just as magical. So check him out. You can follow him on FB, twitter and soundcloud. He also has a website. At the rate it’s going I may have to start a playlist page for you guys. Two of his songs can be found on iTunes and either today or tomorrow he may have up everything else. Maybe one day if I’m lucky I could get him to write a song for one of my stories.

Alright it’s time to get moving.

Today was a busy day. I worked at my normal job, had military stuff to do so Flyboy and I can get off the rock and worked on edits.

Legacy now has two new small chapters, that I think will help readers get a better feel for the darker side of the story. I changed it up because I’m still not getting that great of reviews on WeBook and I don’t think people are getting where the story is going. Will I know their not considering they only get a paragraph and a half to start off. One of the new chapters is the first one and we start off from the bad guys perspective. I’m hoping this helps. Before we didn’t meet the bad guys until chapter five or six now their front and center and like I’d started in later chapters we see them every third or so chapter.

Besides adding two new chapters I finished tearing apart chapter 3 and have made it into two separate chapters. It had been a really long chapter. Too much was in it and the fluff got cut. I have to rework the back half of the of what was chapter 3 so it flows for chapter 5 now but I think it will make more since and I won’t be re-describing things, i.e. the house.

So the last two days I’ve been searching for a job. I’m trying to get prepared for when Flyboy and I leave the rock. I haven’t found anything yet. I’ve had two companies contact me one here in HI for a insurance job (whatever gave them the idea I wanted to do insurance sales is beyond me) and a health care software company in WI (again not sure what they were looking at). I’ve applied to a couple of school to teach online. I’ve never taught online or at the college level but I’d like too that way I can still work on my writing and help others with theirs. I also put my resume up for Paralegal and writing/editing in hopes that I’ll be in the fields I know. Cross your fingers.

I’ve been checking my submission of Legacy on WeBook and people are liking it. It needs work which I’ve been working on, chapter 3 is up which is now chapter 2 I may have to cut a good piece of it because I’m not sure if it’s needed. I’m really wanted the writing tablet for these edits so I don’t have to kill trees, but for now I’m going to be killing trees until it returns to me. It shipped out Saturday so maybe it will be home next week (again cross your fingers) its on its own wicked flight back to CA to get repaired. I have worked on Little Boy Blue, the first set of edits are in the computer I need to add the second set. I’m at a good part so hopefully it will move quickly. If my trusted reader are up for reading it let me know. Blood has some good comment or WeBook too I know I need to work on spelling but other than that no complaints. I’ll also start working on turning One of the Boy’s into a story instead of the screenplay a friend of mine will be so happy he’s been bugging be to work on this for a year and I’m finally going to start.

That’s it for now, I hope you guys had a great weekend.

Why is it that a handful of authors out there have somewhat slow chapters and that’s okay but when I’m trying to write a chapter that needs a slow beginning its “writing needs work.” Do people really think telling a writer “writing needs work” and not explaining what “work” their talking about is helpful? Is it grammar, spelling, not your writing style, I mean seriously tell me what your talking about. I say this because I just checked on the submission of Legacy‘s first page over at WeBook.com and a rater only put down “writing needs work.” Mind you its not even the whole first page and no it doesn’t jump out in grab you. I’m not putting action in the first chapter when the main character is headed to a funeral. This is what I don’t get when I’m sending out Legacy to all these agents asking for the first say five pages aren’t getting into the story because your getting to know the main character. You’re seeing that she’s having issues and that people that normally wouldn’t be hanging around her are. It’s little things that are in the first chapter that will make you start to think somethings going on but the first page all you know is that her rich uncle died and a friend is taking her to his plane.
