Pain!!!

I finished adding in all my edits for the synopsis. The new one is posted. I also posted the sound from Shaun that I liked for the music forLegacy. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do.

Agents, Queries, Rejections and Proposals

Big news. So Wednesday night in the middle of yoga I got an email from an agent requesting my proposal yes I did stop everything. So I really had to make sure Chapters 1 – 3 were in great shape and redo the synopsis. I turned everything in Friday morning when I was sure I had it as close to perfect as I could get it.

Thursday I did receive a rejection letter from the other agency that I’d sent my query into but considering one agency wanted the proposal I’m not in a bad place about it. So I’m like it they just don’t do my type of genre, no biggie.

Today because of all the stress trying to get the proposal done I got the hated migraine and it sucked so I was in pain and added to the I had my “IC” cramps. It was bound to happen but I didn’t like it. Thankfully after a lot (a shot and then a pill) of headache medication my migraine did go away but I wasn’t able to take pain meds for the cramps since I had the migraine. No mixing medication, at least I listen to the doctors. I hope you guys are having a better weekend that I am and I promise I won’t pass the pain around. I know migraines like to move from friend to friend and I’m not letting it. So have a good pain free weekend.

Paperback Dolls

I finished my article for Paperback Dolls and now its time to work on my synopsis.

It’s Friday and I have so much to do

Yep that’s right, Friday and I owe you guys two reviews and to tell you what’s been going on since Monday that seems like so far away but I have been working on Legacy so I’m sorry I haven’t gotten back to the blog. You guys are important its just been crazy busy. So first let me get what I’ve been doing so you know that and what’s going on today. As you know I figured out my hook for Legacy last week finally since I’ve been thinking it was one thing and it’s really been something different, go figure. ;) so I went back to chapter one and re-thought how it started making it a little more jump up and grab you. I’m trying to get the first 50 or so pages ready for submission when I send in the query letters. I also need to redo my synopsis since I’ve redone the first chapter. Like I said so much to do. But its all worth it.  Since Monday I’ve been working on Chapter one some days I’ve gotten more work done than others but I think its coming along. It has to be prefect so I’m taking my time.

Along with working on edits today and writing on the blog I need to try and write my next article for the dolls. I’d like to have it to them this weekend so they have it. I still don’t know what I’m going to write about but I think I’m narrowing it down to workshops and how they help writers at every stage of the game. So we will see. I’ll keep you posted.

I did work on the website some this week as well I only have one last touch to figure out and that’s how I’m going to link the blog to it and what name I’m linking the blog too. Right now I have the website as WickedCoolFlight.com instead of TeresaCrumpton.com so that could get confusing since the blog is wickedcoolflight if I change it to teresacrumpton.com but either way they will be linked together I just have to figure out what will make since for you guys. Any thoughts?

Okay so on to the books…

HexboundHexbound is the second book in Chloe Neill’s Dark Elite series. The first book was Firespell. In Hexbound we meet up with Lily and the Adept’s as the face another dangerous plot that the Dark Elite have planned. This time however she gets some unlikely help from one of her enemies as Sebastian tries to teacher a little about the firespell that he has brought out in her from the first book.

As we learned in the first book Lily is worried and curious about what her parent have to do with the Adept’s and the Dark Elite and some of those questions get answered but we also alone with Lily are left with more questions.

This second book in the Dark Elite is more of a Lily learning about her new paranormal power of firespell and how to control it, its also her learning how she fits into the world of Adepts as it is and her roll in the group. This time they have new leadership as the old couldn’t do what needed to be done to protect their people. Only the next book will tell if the new leadership can keep the Adepts safe, and if they can help Lily grow in her power and control it. Or if Sebastian is still needed.

Discovery Of Witches by Deborah Harkness

I really enjoyed the book, but I must warn you it is long. Granted I couldn’t put it down and it took me three or four days of doing nothing but reading. It has something like 47 Chapters and they are long chapters. But that’s not why I liked the book I liked Discovery of Witches because it has a different take on the whole witches, vampires, and demons. What I mean by that is that it takes a look at the different species like Darwin would have. Its more scientific, than most and historical going into different scientific times when humans looked at the world differently and vampires, witches and demons weren’t feared as they are now. We also learn a lot or little or Matthew the leading male life and the different times and people he knew, some of them were great minds of the time. Diana is the female lead and she is a witch trying to hide who and what she is from herself and everyone one else and has been since she was seven.

Diana had a great loss then when her parents were murdered because of magic and she learns why during the book that their deaths where now by whom she though and for the reasons she though which turns her life upside down. Now only does this information have an effect on her but she learns other information that has her questioning her once simple life. As the book goes along there are choices both she and Matthew must make and they aren’t simple ones they will change the course history for all creatures and there are some creature that will do everything they can to stop them. Discovery of Witches is only book one it is a trilogy in a long bumpy ride for Diana and Matthew. But its a trilogy that should be one hell of a good ride, so if you like evolution, history, science, a good book, witches, vampires, demons and humans with some war thrown in you’ll love this.

Finished the synopsis today while I was down meeting my Dad’s bosses. They had a meeting and I worked. Overall a productive day, I even have another article for the Paperback Dolls written.

It’s early and I’m awake, grumpy but awake. I say this because Flyboy and I didn’t get home until close to two from working AADD. I really don’t want to be awake yet but my house was like Grand Central Station this morning between alarm clocks, phone calls and the ringing of the door, along with the opening and closing of said door since it has an alarm on it as well. So I’m awake and I’m going to grip a little more before moving on to news that really matters.

This next grip however is something I’d like you guys to think about because last night a kid, and I say kid because he probably hasn’t hit twenty-four yet if he was even over twenty-one, made a statement and it blew me away. Not in a good way mind you. Around one a.m. while Flyboy was out picking up a drunkard with one of our friends I stayed back at the USO. After Bad Boys went off the movie Prestige came on. Towards the beginning of the movie there’s a scene where Christian Bale’s character magically appears in a girls apartment, that he like after she’s told him he can’t come in. So the guy sitting two chairs down from me goes “that’s a little crazy” I agreed with him and the guy sitting in front of the other one goes “Girls would get a kick out of that.” I respond to that my saying “Maybe in the eighteen century.” The kid goes on to tell me that if I liked a guy I would think its cute.” This kid really didn’t get it. I proceed to say “It wouldn’t matter if I liked the guy or not if he popped into my house without being invited I’d kick his ass.” The guy next to me thought my response would be appropriate but the kid told me I just didn’t get it. Maybe he is right but at thirty-two in this day and age with my knowledge and background I would think the guy wanted to hurt me. I mean the chick in the movie barely knew Christian Bale’s character and he basically brakes in. Am I really suppose to find that cute? Needless to say the kid really irritated me and to make matter’s worse he’s a military member and I prefer to hold our Soldiers to high standards. He failed. Guys never enter a chicks house if you aren’t invited and ladies if a guy enters your house when you’ve told him no something is not right, run.

Okay so that was my soapbox sorry. On to the writing. So last night I redid my query letter and I think I like this one a lot better than my first. I figured out what genre Legacy should fall under. Trying to figure that out has been driving me nuts. Why you may ask? Because even though it has supernatural aspects within it it’s not really a science fiction or fantasy piece. Granted that’s were it will probably be when it gets published but according to industry terms it doesn’t fit. It doesn’t even fit into urban fantasy well but that’s at least closer. It seems to fit under mainstream (contemporary) psychic/supernatural because the only things that are supernatural are the ghost. Yes Alexis is empathetic but in reality there are people who are more empathetic than others so I finally feel comfortable with the genre. When I finished the query I started on a new synopsis. This is a little more difficult. Did you know that most authors have two synopsis one long and one short. I didn’t I only have the one that I had to write for my writing conference. For that one I was only allowed to use a page. Well after reading the articles in Writer’s Digest – GET AN AGENT, I’ve found that my synopsis was a little off. Its a good thing the editor I sent the synopsis too had already seen the one I sent her. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t back fire, because I didn’t have a clue on what one should look like, what the length should be nothing. So I’m working on it and when I finish I’ll upload it to the Fiction page.

Also before I go, start checking out the Paperback Dolls website over the next few weeks, the journey to becoming a published author will should start to pop up. I’ll give you exact dates as I learn them.
