Poetry part II

Yes I know it’s late but I got a lot of work done today and since we are going into the weekend this will be my last post until Monday. I finished typing up one book of poems today and started on another. I did figure out that I have 80 something more poems to type in. Yeah I use to write a lot of poetry and most of it was written between 1995 – 2000 I have written a few since then but not many. Most of what I write are stories, granted I was writing them while I was writing the poetry but poetry doesn’t take as long to write generally. So hopefully I’ll finish typing up the rest of the poems next week. My fingers are crossed.

This weekend, however I’m going to get my decorations out for Halloween. Decorate my house, I’m so excited, then I’m going to bake my pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and witches brew. I’m ready for fall and this weekend I’m going to do all the things that make it fall in my house.

So have a great weekend and I’ll see you Monday.

Poetry

This is going to be a small post, sorry, I have another headache today. However I did get work done today. During breakfast I typed up a handful of poems, this was before the headache started. The poems were better today, it seems when I’m angry my poetry is better. That or when I’m sad, go figure.

I’m hoping that tomorrow I’ll get some more poems typed in, and then I want to bake some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and witches brew. I’m ready for autumn and Halloween, this weekend I think the decorations are coming out.

Today sucked

You may ask why, and I’ll tell you. All my plans got shot down thanks to the headache/migraine I woke up with. So all I did today was take my meds and watch TV. Thankfully that didn’t hurt my head but I didn’t work on any that I wanted too. I was able to make mash potatoes but those are my comfort food and put dinner together which went into the crockpot. So I really didn’t cook dinner.

I saw a lot of action and romantic comedies today while laying on the couch. That sounds so bad but when your head is pounding what can you do. At least I didn’t have to give myself a shot today or only lay in a dark room those days are the worst. The coke and meds helped now I just have to let the “hang over” headache go away and hope that I don’t get another one tomorrow.

Last night though I typed up a handful of poems, so at least I did get some work don’t just not as much as I wanted too. The really bad thing about typing in my poems last I get to see how much work I need to do on them. Some of them really need work, now I have to say I wrote these poems between 1995 – 2000 and you would its the 1995 ones that need all the work but some of the 2000 ones are pretty bad. I’m not sure what I was thinking when I wrote them, but they well be getting a rewrite or disregarded all together if need be.  Yeah some are really that bad, I probably shouldn’t say that but I want to be honest and frankly why not tell you the truth. If they aren’t good they aren’t good. I know it. It’s not like I want to show any of you the crap I was typing up last night before I fix it. Poetry was never my strong suit, I can write it but it’s not easy. Poets have my respect, creating a story the way they do.

In my MFA poetry class everyone wanted me to add  more to my poetry. When I write poetry it emotional but not every colorful. The poetry that I wrote about love is crappy my dark stuff is normally to the point. But all my poetry is personal which makes it hard for others to feel like they are apart of it, at least that’s what classmates said. Like I said I’m not a poet I’m a writer and there is a difference, I create better stories than I do poems but not all of my poems are worthless I have a cool ones up my sleeves and when I have even thing typed up I’ll put a few back in the poetry section. I just want to see which ones to send out first. ;)

Back from a long weekend

This past weekend I didn’t get as much done as I wanted to for two days I have a migraine but Flyboy did get me to do a little work around the house. Saturday we went out to a nursery to find some plants for the back yard. Flyboy and I found so many different plants that we liked that picking the right ones was difficult but we finally picked the plants for around our screened in porch and a Princess Holly to go in front of our satellite. The one downside to being at the nursery was that it didn’t help the  migraine that had started while on the way. Smells are one of my triggers, not that all smells trigger migraines for me just some, and I never know which smells will make my head pound even more.  Granted spending about an hour at the nursery probably didn’t help.

We did make it home to see the UT vs OU game, though we had to fast forward through the commercials. Yeah I know the game sucked for us Texas fans so as you can imagine Flyboy and I worked on the house a little. Though he did have me take medicine so I would sleep. Then Flyboy planted our Holly bush and we started unpacking some boxes and put up the paintings. How the house doesn’t echo as much. Thankfully. Sunday was much of the same unpacking, and of course the Cinny game, and we own. And again I had a migraine, gotta love them… not. Monday Flyboy had off since it’s a federal holiday and I didn’t have a migraine (Yea!!!) We did more to put the house together, our closet is put together finally, he made me unpack my bags now I can find most of my clothes, the ones that aren’t in boxes out in the garage. lol Okay moving on from the boring part of the weekend and on to what will be happening today and this week hopefully fingers crossed.

So the plan for this week since I found the box with my office books is to type up all of my poems so they are finally in the computer. This way I can start sending them off to contest, and maybe get my work out there through them. I’ll be starting on that tonight. My next project is to work on my review of The Help and hopefully finish it. Because its such a unique book I’m having a hard time finishing my review.

Next on my list of things to do this week is cooking… as some of you know October and Halloween are my favorite time of year and Flyboy asked me to make some homemade apple cider. So I’ve been looking for a recipe, making it this week. I’ll also be making my Witches Brew and Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies. Yes, I found my cookbooks and I can’t wait to use them in my new kitchen. Okay so I’m off to work on my poetry now, I’ll see you soon.

Rejection and Poetry

I’ve had a few rejections come in lately but my spirits aren’t down. It just making me see that Legacy may need a little more work and so may my synopsis. ;) But while I’m cleaning up Legacy I want to keep my name out there so I’m going to start submitting my poems to contest/ magazines in hopes that some form of my writing gets published and I might get seen. I need to clean up a few pieces that I have on hand, and I don’t have all of it. most of my poetry is boxed in storage from the move. I never really thought this would be something I’d be doing so I didn’t think about keeping it with be as Flyboy and I traveled across country. Now I see I’ll have to type everything into the computer once we are settled in so this doesn’t happen. That is the one bad thing about being of the old thought, and writing everything down on paper before you type in, you don’t always have it when you need it. So think about that if you’re like me it can come back and bite you in the ass at a later date. I’ll keep you posted.

Tomorrow I’ll have the first of my reviews up.

Reviews, Pitches, Poems

I’ve finished all the reviews I’ve been working on. I’ll post all the reviews this week plus you’ll see them on PBD. I just don’t know when, so I’ll post the reviews for you. I did just finish reading another YA that wasn’t to bad it was Lauren Kate’s latest, Passion and I’ll try and get a review for that done as well. She has one more coming out for the series. I’m not sure if I’m in love with it. I really like the first book, the second was pretty good this one I’m not sure about. So I’m not sure how the review will go. You know I don’t like to give spoilers and for the review to be any good that’s what I’d have to do. But I’ll give it a shot anyway.

Pitches I’ve been doing a lot of pitches. Savvy Author lets its members pitch to editors its only three lines but hey three lines is three lines and its getting the word out there. So that’s what I’ve been doing pitching Legacy. Here’s the pitch.

Author: Teresa Crumpton

Title: Legacy
Genre: Urban Fantasy/Paranormal
Word Count: 90,000
Most people inherit money; Alexis inherited hell…

A house’s thirst for blood, along with the secret murders performed by a demon doctor will expose a family secret when a young empathic law student inherits her family’s long forgotten haunted house. Things get interesting when deceased relatives arrive to help Alexis learn about her true Legacy.

Hopefully I’ll get a bite.

I’m thinking about sending some of my poems in to see if I can get them published in Magazines, I’ll let you guys know how that goes.
